If that lady wasn't in her seventies, the pale monkey would be an inch from having himself a handful of sweater kitten.
Posted by: Crash on July 23, 2002 09:19 PMAre we a fetish site now? Cuz I got the pix to back it up.
Posted by: eyeballkid on July 23, 2002 09:23 PMNo!
Don't tell me the old girl is actually enjoying it, Nugget...
Posted by: Miguel on July 23, 2002 09:37 PMMrs. Wilson says, "You can't monkey-gang rape the willing."
Posted by: brittney on July 23, 2002 09:38 PMIf that lady wasn't in her seventies, the pale monkey would be an inch from having himself a handful of sweater kitten.
But as it is, the monkey under the couch gets the handful.
Posted by: jonmc on July 23, 2002 10:36 PM"Maaa! George is hogging the Old Lady doll again!!"
(I couldn't resist. I'm a lurker both here and at Metafilter. I'm tired of waiting for the sign-ups to begin and you guys seem to be having more fun anyway)
*slinks back into lurkdom*
Posted by: ChaosKitty on July 23, 2002 11:04 PMWhen Aunt Bea brings out the toys, plush monkeys ain't the only things gettin' stuffed....
Posted by: MarsCrash on July 23, 2002 11:07 PMDamn. We have lurkers? That whole with great power comes great - ah - clothes, I think thing is really sinking in now ...
Posted by: yhbc on July 23, 2002 11:21 PMWait 'til someone posts a thread on the blue page with a "via 9622.net" tag, Commish. You'll be up all night.
Posted by: Crash on July 23, 2002 11:24 PMIt won't be long, Crash. ;)
*All now break into Beatles' "It Won't Be Long"*
Posted by: Miguel on July 23, 2002 11:31 PM"Jesus, Grandma! Enough with the monkey costumes. The midgets want to go home!"
Posted by: ColdChef on July 23, 2002 11:35 PMthe only way out is death.
So many taglines, so little time...
Posted by: jpoulos on July 24, 2002 09:50 AMYep, I think you guys have a 9622.net lurker subculture. :)
Umm...if I delurk myself permanently, is there some sort of bizarre initiation ritual I will have to endure involving monkeys?
Or will there be some sort of quiz?
It depends on your definition of "bizarre" I guess.
Get the fat suit on, jp. I'll get the cole slaw. It's showtime.
Posted by: kafkaesque on July 24, 2002 11:37 AMChaosKitty: "Are you now or have you ever beeeen...an English major?"
Posted by: ColdChef on July 24, 2002 11:39 AMI was wondering the other day how many lurkers there are here. Just post a picture of a monkey penis. Works every time (ascii, if ya got it).
Has anyone (including the monkey-admins) considered keeping stats for this site, like the public ones you can get through Sitemeter? That would be lovely.
Posted by: adampsyche on July 24, 2002 11:41 AM*squints in bright interrogation light*
ColdChef: If I say Yes, what will happen?
Coleslaw!
Whoo! I think I'm gonna like it here.
*Pokes it with a stick*
You're right. That's defintely not coleslaw.
Eww.
Hey, Um...ColdChef...I admit it, I was not only an Lit major (with a focus on epic novels), but I even have a degree in Literature. (And one in Philosophy too. I was a liberal arts kinda girl. Also, it meant I got to wear a lot of black and have an snitty attitude well past my teen years, which was fun.)
Does this mean I have to leave? *sniff*
Posted by: dejah420 on July 24, 2002 05:16 PMno, it means you're in the majority here.*
*but i'm not.
Posted by: witchstone on July 24, 2002 05:29 PMI didn't actually go to college per se (it was a "business college" where the 12-month program cost me nearly as much as a full four years at a public university, but I digress), but if I had gone to an actual four-year college you can bet your boots that I would definitely have majored in something, possibly even English.
Posted by: Crash on July 24, 2002 05:45 PMAha! Another Literature degree! Join the ranks of the technically not-very-employable!
"But boss, don't you see that this project is just like The Sound And The Fury? Don'tcha see it?!
"Fools!"
Posted by: kafkascampi on July 24, 2002 06:13 PMcomputer science and math. I am so employable it's frightening. I can even act like this!
Posted by: goneill on July 25, 2002 11:53 AMOne wouldn't think so, but journalism degrees are even less marketable than English degrees.
And I chose journalism because it was practical...
Posted by: brittney on July 25, 2002 12:05 PMI'm a double whammy, brit. Bachelor in English, Masters in Journalism.
I'm DOUBLY unemployable!
Posted by: jpoulos on July 25, 2002 12:10 PMOh yeah?
Well I forgot to mention my PhD in Yeti Studies.
Top that!
Posted by: kafkascampi on July 25, 2002 12:17 PMStraight up English. And I never read Moby Dick or The Grapes of Wrath. I'm the loser of English major losers.
Posted by: adampsyche on July 25, 2002 01:10 PMHigh School Diploma. 2 years of college majoring in beer drinking and skirt chasing before I flunked out. I seem to be eminently employable but not at any job any sane being would want. I am king of the name tag nation, yo.
Posted by: jonmc on July 25, 2002 01:14 PMDid MeFi just go bye-bye? Or is there something heinously wrong with my firewall?
(Ack - or maybe the IT spies are on to me. Shit shit shit!)
Posted by: Marquis on July 25, 2002 01:24 PMStrangely enough, I don't find this article that far off base.
Posted by: adampsyche on July 25, 2002 01:32 PMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
