July 28, 2002 : One Is The Loneliest Monkey

Let's Go Funky!

I submit as my inaugural post, this friendly yet shredding primate, Eddie Van Monkey.

People have said these things about that :

I don't know, Kevin, he looks more like Chimpy Page to me ...

Posted by: yhbc on July 28, 2002 08:34 PM

Nice!

Posted by: adampsyche on July 28, 2002 08:37 PM

Chimpy Page? Nice one. How about Eric Chimpton? It kinda looks like his strat "Blackie".

This post was not assigned a category. In light of recent events, I have created one especially for it.

Kumbayah, m'lord, kumbayah!

Posted by: readymade on July 29, 2002 12:15 AM

A big welcome, Kevin! It may be the hunger speaking - I haven't had my breakfast yet - but that table and those chairs in the background would suggest he's probably singing for his supper. Irving Berlin's "Suppertime" comes to mind. Or, if he's a silly monkey, the Gershwins' "Summertime" with a convenient consonant change.

Posted by: Miguel on July 29, 2002 02:34 AM

Actually, he looks strangely like the instructor on my How to Play Acoustic Guitar video.

Show me the F Bobo! Show me!

Well, I was searching for monkeys' duelling banjos, in the Deliverance/Cajun panties/ColdChef Presents "My Lousiana" style, when I came across its polar opposite: the electronic music of Infinite Monkeys. There's a track ("Monkey Test") where you can clearly sing along with the words "Monkey monkey", in a twisted karaoke fashion. The other tracks aren't at all bad, either.

Ape Frehley without the makeup.

Chimpanzee-Z Top.

(Curious) George Hairyson.

Posted by: Eeksy-Peeksy on July 29, 2002 07:35 AM

But what's he playing? I think it's an old Neil Young song:

I wanna live
with a simian girl
I could be happy
the rest of my life
With a simian girl.

Posted by: Eeksy-Peeksy on July 29, 2002 08:02 AM

*wild applause*

The Russian judges give Eeksy-Peeksy a 9.5 for the half-gainer, double-somersault, Curious George Hairyson pun.

*more wild applause*

I can't believe no one's suggested that Lipps Inc. disco classic...

"Won't you take me to
MonkeyTowwwwn!"

Posted by: scribblative on July 29, 2002 09:19 PM

Or that Silver Convention disco classic(esp popular in Oz)..."Fly, Monkey, Fly"

Posted by: jonmc on July 29, 2002 09:28 PM

....The Russian judges were observed conferencing in a room offstage due to perceived judging irregularities. Spokesman Lance Link will hold a press conference later this evening....

I'm not sure WHO he is, but I'm pretty sure I saw him playing with Barbara Mandrill.

Posted by: readymade on July 30, 2002 01:17 AM

Or was it Eddie Monkey playing "Baby, Hold on That Tree?"

Barbara Mandrill

*lift-off due to nose jets!

I'd like to thank the academy, and those of you on 9622 who have made this possible. Without you I'm nothing....

*wipes tear meaningfully away from corner of eye. blows kiss*

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
