July 29, 2002 : Would the real Miguel please stand up?

We have a conspiracy on our hands! It seems that our very own miguel has been moonlighting as a 27-year old DJ. Do you see a resemblance? I don't see a resemblance.

In related matters, people who like miguel also like these people.

People have said these things about that :

Ooh, I like that design.

Miguel, how do you answer to these charges? Or are you in hiding after your recent MeTa spanking?

Posted by: adampsyche on July 29, 2002 09:30 AM

Hmmm - I's true I'm in spanking after the MeTa hiding, but it looks like doppelganger time over there. I do like the bands he likes. It's a weird feeling.

Now please move aside while I file away my fingertips for the great ashbury Google search. ;)

He is risen!

Posted by: adampsyche on July 29, 2002 09:41 AM

Okay, I gotta say this:
Everytime one of you says "Migs" I think of "Mulitple Miggs in the next cell" from "Silence of the Lambs."

Remember? The one who gave Jodie Foster the protein treatment? Anyways, now these two people are becoming forever joined in my mind.

DR. LECTER
Now then. What did Miggs say to you?
(she is puzzled)
"Multiple Miggs," in the next cell. He hissed at you. What did he say?

CLARICE
He said - "I can smell your cunt."

DR. LECTER
I see. I myself cannot. You use Evian skin cream, and sometimes you
wear L'Air du Temps, but not today.

reminds me of a recent south park episode where cartman was teaching one of the girls how to play a game called "lambs." he kept a doll in a well in the basement and lowered a bucket down to it saying, "it puts the lotion in the basket...."

Also:
Hearing "9622.net" bandied about on MetaTalk is like overhearing someone talking about how hot your sister is.

At first you're flattered and kind of proud, but then, the more they keep talking about her, you start to feel uneasy and then someone makes a comment about her being "loose" and you laugh because it's kind of funny and true, but then it's your sister and they shouldn't talk like that and you get all icky inside and you want them to shut up. It's kind of like that.

I'm sorry about the unwelcome attention and the spillover, for which I feel indirectly responsible. People should come here for fun, not for police-work to see if we're dissing people behind their backs. Still, people who do come here looking for dirt will soon find it's an explicit policy here not to do that and those with any sense of humour will stay here for the right reasons, right? Right!

Posted by: Miguel on July 29, 2002 11:08 AM

No dirt, my friend. Only flinging poo.

Posted by: adampsyche on July 29, 2002 11:11 AM

mathowie sucks!

I'm sorry about the unwelcome attention and the spillover, for which I feel indirectly responsible.
You know, in the past, I have linked to 9622.net from MeFi (hell, I did it last week) but I think that now we should consider something that was said way back at the start of this nonsense:
(original link no longer exists, but here's a snarky reply to it):
3. No on any further "signposts" on MeFi or MeTa proper. 's grand announcement on 9622 is enough, and worked beautifully.
In other words, we should try not to link ourselves. I'm just sayin'.

mathowie sucks!
Which brings up another question, while I'm at it. Does Matt ever venture out here into our virgin lands or do MeFi and all of his side gigs keep him too busy to visit? Matt, if you're out there, give us a "Yo."

If I read that metatalk thread right, bluetrain is indeed a woman.

"Because she is that the women do not need umbrella?
Because of the room for the kitchen it does not rain!"

Posted by: b****fire on July 29, 2002 01:04 PM

Miguel, I had one of my best follow ups on comments to a thread, thanks to you as it was yours, thanks. The one about the chic who didn't get enough satisfaction from English.
Also, I thought coldchef was a woman, then a man, then a woman, then I didn't care, yet I know a man for sure. I even told Miguel (notice how I repeat things, yet I don't try) anyway, coldchef your woman has spoken for you, meaning she logged on as you in Meta.
Bluetrain is just one pissed smart personality, who knows maybe they are a set, as in a "train set". So like a moving piece of cold, blue steel rolling down the track at an unstoppable speed. Monkeys what kind of sex is that? One with more trouble than anyone would want to take head on, male or female or both, eek eek.

Posted by: thomcatspike on July 29, 2002 01:53 PM

BlueTrain - originally simply opinionated - has grown bitter and vitreolic from all of the insults and prodding. I think that his shrillness would sink several levels if people were to lay off of him for a while.

BTW, today's vote for user I most want to have a conversation with: remlapm.

Posted by: Marquis on July 29, 2002 02:02 PM

Uh oh. Let's try that again:

remlapm

Does Matt ever venture out here into our virgin lands...

*snickers* And here I thought the fertile fields of 9622 were already deflowered, considering all the trouserless, dress wearing monkeys around here.

Posted by: romakimmy on July 29, 2002 02:18 PM

bluetrain is referring to itself as "mom" on that thread. So unless "heather has two daddies" I would assume she is female.

Told you so.

Posted by: b****fire on July 29, 2002 02:20 PM

BlueTrain was referred to, by someone else, as the MeFiMom, and he has embraced it (perhaps sardonically) for himself. Others use it too. I'm quite sure he's male.

Posted by: Marquis on July 29, 2002 02:21 PM

We had exchanged private emails awhile back(O THAT was "pleasant")...at that point I had gained the impression Bluetrain was female.

I guess from now on the pronoun "it" will be used.

Posted by: b****fire on July 29, 2002 02:51 PM

Whether bluetrain is male or female, bitter or sweet, he (I think he's a he) has a great comment in that thread that made me laugh.

zarah, you're 17?

::smiles::

So how you doing?

Smooth, sexy, funky, elegant, lush, sophisticated and deep are some of the words commonly used to describe Miguel’s unique sound

Take THAT to metatalk, you sexy, funky, elegant digital hoodlum! Bwahahahahahahaha...

....combine many flavours into his colourful sets.

Looks like vowels are 2 for 1 this week.

Posted by: KevinSkomsvold on July 29, 2002 05:52 PM

Looks like spellings are in English this week, you mena?

Posted by: walrus on July 29, 2002 05:56 PM

Marquis, who sean or karl, I let him have a big banana for Miguel, and I almost made a snarky remark refering to to 9622. Yet I remember coldchef saying we should watch our back on the pooing of Meta.

Posted by: thomcatspike on July 29, 2002 08:21 PM

One of the google searches someone used to find my (now deceased) blog happened to be "miguel and metafilter" of all things. Tracing that back, I found this little gem, translated from the Portuguese (courtesy of Google):

*viciante than crack" - http://www.metafilter.com
It is the slogan of a small farm in web, constructed for an American trintão, without fixed work, that lodged the site in a computer offered for the father and it bound it to the InterNet for a line supplied for one its friend. To the departure, it can seem that if it deals with a site drug, but has had a certain success enters some elite of the Net. One is about a space where any person can place one link that she finds interesting, informative, polémico, etc., joining to it a small description, and from initiating an open quarrel to all there the users. The site is fed entirely by the proper community, with its suggestions of addresses and, as it could not leave of being, the Portuguese presence also note. Among others, the texts of the writer are distinguished Miguel Esteves Cardoso, a interventivo user, with its links and commentaries. It is now to the reach of the fans to change some lines of text and to appreciate the writing of the MEC - informally and with the quality of the custom - in the site MetaFilter.*

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
