Thanks to Lupo's internal memo, I just looked at 9622.net's traffic stats for the last two weeks: a daily average of 250 visits and 1000 page views, no less! Although it's a bit early for delicious musings along the lines of "Have we become too big for our boots? Should we start thinking about releasing our White Album?", surely some mild trumpet-blowing is in order. I mean, hey, *starts a-whittling and a-rocking on his Sergio Leone-designed porch* do you remember when....?
Although it's a bit early for delicious musings along the lines of "...Should we start thinking about releasing our White Album?"
Why too early? It's never too early for The White Album! (Although, to be finnicketty, it's officially called The Beatles, which suggests our double-LP premature-swan-song should be 9622. Aaanyway...)
"Sexy Stavros, where have you gone?"
"Miguel, my dear, you have always been my inspiration..."
"So I sing a song of love, j... poulos..."
"Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lies / Chef and his elephants were taken by surprise / So thomcatspike zapped in right between the eyes ..."And, of course:
Everybody's got something to hide, except for me and my monkey!Posted by: Marquis on August 5, 2002 11:18 AM
By the way, those egg-collectibles have always been my favorites. Monkeys come from eggs! It's nonsensical! It's fun! Wheeeee!
Posted by: kafkaesque on August 5, 2002 11:37 AMHeh. Have you seen the little Marquis/ Crawling in the dirt/ And for all the little Marquises/ Life is getting worse...
Dong resin is clearly When I get to the bottom I go back the top of the slide...Dong resin!
The problem now is identifying who's
she's not a girl who misses much...
I can only apologise. I'll try to stop hitting refresh quite so often.
Posted by: walrus on August 5, 2002 11:44 AMI'm well acquainted with the touch of a velvet hand like a lizard on a windowpane.
Posted by: tizzie on August 5, 2002 11:53 AMDoes that mean I can post as much as I do here, or am I at an above to an averge to below average, as a poster?
Posted by: thomcatspike on August 5, 2002 12:10 PMTo add:
Flew in from a blue-grey thread
About mon-keys
Didn't get to bed last night
All the way my laptop screen
Was on my knee
Man I had a dreadful flight.
Man, I am totally fighting the urge to post this at MetaFilter:
1,130 mothers set breast-feeding record
Sit beside a mountain stream, see her waters rise,
listen to the pretty sound of music as she flies
Has anyone received a CD from me yet? Not even witchstone has, and she is just across the Hudson River...
Posted by: adampsyche on August 5, 2002 01:04 PMNo walrus, it's Happieness Is Some Warm Dung
I got your cd Adam. Actually, I've gotten yours, dogmatic's, crash_davis' and witchstone's. All pretty damned good, I must say. I'm working at home on some things this week and the plan is to make them the revolving soundtrack.
Posted by: eyeballkid on August 5, 2002 01:22 PM"Has anyone received a CD from me yet? Not even witchstone has, and she is just across the Hudson River..."
It was on my desk when I came in this morning. I don't know if it got here on Friday or just today (I don't work Fridays).
I'm going to give it a listen this afternoon.
Posted by: Crash on August 5, 2002 01:29 PMBe gentle in your reviews!
Crash: don't bother sending another copy if this one doesn't show up. I will copy it from dogmatic.
Posted by: adampsyche on August 5, 2002 01:50 PMBe gentle in your reviews!
We gonna hear any proper reviews? All this talk about people getting CDs in the mail, and I wanna know if they're any good! What's on them? What's cool? What's lame? What should be shared with the rest of us?
Maybe people are doing this by email (I did with K), but am I the only one who cares about even those mixes I'm not going to receive?
(Miguel, your tear-coaxing CD goes out today.)

Did Dick Van Dyke teach you nothing?
Posted by: kafkaesque on August 5, 2002 02:20 PMAdam, got your CD on Saturday.. great freaking mix bruthaman.
Posted by: tj on August 5, 2002 02:45 PMOh, and if anyone not in the Mojo Jojos wants a copy of mine, just email me your address... I'm feeling generous (no swap required)
Posted by: tj on August 5, 2002 02:47 PMjust do it cold chef - for soon you will be swallowed in a web of your own deceit and lies and you will go about writing a novel about your cd in order to apologise, and there will be buildup, oh yes, the buildup, and then you will sit - should you paint something for everyone individually, but you can't paint - ah the art lessons you should take first. it will become 'not a cd' but a life's work that can never be started and never finished, but something that will prevent you from ever sleeping again. Go to the store and by the latest of brittney spears' offerings. do it really really fast. I'm warning you.
Posted by: goneill on August 5, 2002 03:11 PMI am going to post my mp3s tomorrow night or wednesday at littlefuckingrayofsunshine.com (not up right now). I'll let everyone know then, and you can download them at will.
Posted by: adampsyche on August 5, 2002 03:25 PMuh... ColdChef, I don't know if goneill is the best person to take advice from when it comes to burning and mailing out mix cds.
Posted by: eyeballkid on August 5, 2002 03:26 PMI've forgiven you, goneill, but there's a scar on my heart.
Posted by: ColdChef on August 5, 2002 03:27 PMShe lies! LIES!
When I am on my deathbed, fifty years from now, an envelope will arrive, vaguely CD shaped. I will open it with trembling pruney fingers, and out will slip a note: "I'm almost done. Hang in there."
Then, I will expire and haunt your family in perpetuity, Goneill.
Posted by: kafkaesque on August 5, 2002 03:36 PM"Happiness is some warm dung..."
"Fling fling, poo poo"
oh, k. really - i just got a cd burner, and i've almost worked out the ordering of the songs. and then for cover art, buying cds and mailing. I understand your anger; when you do get something vaguely disk-shaped in the mail I hope that you will open it and twirl it around on your index finger.
but, for now, sigh, lies and more lies. i accept. what if i get hit by a truck - you will all never know my sincerity - time is of the essence.
Posted by: goneill on August 5, 2002 04:17 PMdong, wait until i have my finger in the right place. then cough.
Posted by: eyeballkid on August 5, 2002 05:15 PMIf I knew where my great grandchildren were going to live, I could give you an address to send the cds goneill.
Posted by: eyeballkid on August 5, 2002 05:16 PMMy right place would be much easier for you to find if you didn't have such cold hands, eyeball.
Posted by: dong_resin on August 5, 2002 06:32 PMDong, your cd is coming with the rest of them, you beautiful bastard.
Posted by: ColdChef on August 5, 2002 06:33 PMHave you seen the little monkeys
Swinging in the trees?
And for all the little monkeys
Life is the bees' knees
Always have clean poo
To fling around with!
I trust everyone recieved mine. ebk, yours is amazing. Adam, will you hate me if I say it's really really cool? And crash . . . What an odd mix. I never would have thought of putting Lyle Lovet, Indgo Girls, Dusty Wang Chung, and Spinal Tap together. Forgetting, of course, about Robert Cray and Plant and Melissa Etheridge and the Beetles. Oh fuck me I'm drubk. I can't sontinue this coneversaton any further.
Administratr, please hope me!
Night night.
Posted by: dogmaticMe on August 5, 2002 10:50 PMOoops. I apologize for any undue trauma I may have caused in my mindles state last evening. Surely, you understand.
Posted by: dogmaticMe on August 6, 2002 04:28 AMYou were intoxicated and desired sexual activities with us. Sure, we understand.
Like we don't all have stepfathers.
Posted by: dong_resin on August 6, 2002 06:27 AMPUI (posting under the influence, of course) is (if I may be so bold) not only accepted, but encouraged, nay, demanded 'round here.
El KaDong - sometimes you scare me. But I love you anyway.
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on August 6, 2002 07:19 AMIn case you missed it last time, it is all yours again. Do I hear a photoshop contest?
(I am sure there will be plenty more after our excursion into NYC tonight...)
Posted by: adampsyche on August 6, 2002 08:30 AMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
