August 30, 2002 : Nimoy-tastic!

What I've got you've got to give it to your mamma
What I've got you've got to give it to your pappa
What I've got you've got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little water

What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
Reeling with the feeling don't stop continue

People have said these things about that :

Oh, that pic is scaring me.

Posted by: adampsyche on August 30, 2002 10:22 AM

And I don't want to think about him giving anything to anybody. RHCP song or not.

Posted by: adampsyche on August 30, 2002 10:23 AM

ooo, interjection. I'm in love with "By the Way" the new RHCP song. Anyone got the new album? Is it tasty?

Posted by: witchstone on August 30, 2002 10:29 AM

Witchy, I don't have the album per se, but I do have a coworker who puts it on endless repeat.

And after an entire of summer of listening to it, it's still tolerable. Which I can't say the same of for other coworker's endless repeat selections.

Dammit. Got an error, hit refresh to make sure it didn't already post, and still nailed by the double post gremlins.

I'm tellin' ya, my Friday is feeling distinctly like Monday...

that picture works surprisingly well with "Been Caught Stealin'"

and "beans and cornbread" by Louis Jordan, from A Fistful of Dong.

Ben Lee - END OF THE WORLD

On the last day of the world
On the last day of history
I'm gonna live like I always wanted
I'm gonna live like I really was free
And when it finally happens
When they say it on TV
You can bet your life that I'll be the first one
Dancing in the street

You'll have your scientist expert nuclear physicist
Saying that he can't explain
Maybe it's a meteor nuclear bomb missile launch
A final plague acid rain
Then he'll tell you it's the last day of your life
And you must not leave your home
There'll be millions of people all around the world
Praying to the CNN god alone

But I'm gonna dance And I'm gonna sing
When I hear those words said
I'm gonna smash my favorite guitar
Burn every book I've ever read
Then I'm gonna gather all my friends together
We'll get drunk and we'll get high
And then we'll chain smoke cigarettes
It doesn't matter 'cos we're all gonna die

I'm gonna tear down the main city street
In a stolen police car
Record the world's trashiest song
And make myself a star
Then I'm gonna come back home and sit and think
About every word I've said
Take a photo of myself as a souvenir
'Cos by the end of the day I'll be dead

And then I'll come round to your place
With a flower and a song
I'm gonna rest my tired head in your lap
And cry about all the things I've done wrong
Then I'm gonna look at you just one last time
And smile at the life I chose
Then let one final tear past my eye
Before the world explodes

There'll be millions of people all around the world / Praying to the CNN god alone

But the rest of us know that the End of the world will not be televised.

Great song, Stav.

I want to know if that really is *half* of a lil' Sanchez moustache under Spock's lip. Am I the only one who sees this?

In search of ... Nimoy's facial hair

::think unsexy thoughts, think unsexy thoughts, think unsexy thoughts::

Oh, and my fav end o' the world song:

Subhumans (UK, not canadian):
When The Bomb Drops

When the bomb drops I'll be a bank holiday
everybody happy in their tents and caravans
everybody happy in their ignorance and apathy
nobody realises until
their television breaks down
the voices of the poeople are going unheard
but
they got nothing to say cos they're deaf and dumb
too concerned with money
luxury adultery
complacency and politics and apathy will never mix
when the
bomb drops they'll be a 4 minute warning
three minutes of anarchy and one of
blind futility
no-one left alive and no chances to survive
you've heard it all
before-but I'm telling you once more
to forget is to forgive but there's nothing to forget
I ain't forgotten how to live and it hasn't happened [yet]
they'll drop the bomb for something to do
can't remember what it's for
but I ain't forgot hiroshima
i ain't forgot the war

For some reason I am getting a mental image of Leonard Nimoy singing "Cold November Rain" by Guns n Roses. I imagine him bent over the piano in a gold lamé tuxedo jacket, with pyrotechnics at play behind him.

It just works, dammit.

Posted by: kafkaesque on August 30, 2002 11:50 AM

iz that from the "bilbo baggins" video?

If it is, the scary thing is he WROTE that song.

Oh look: here's an exciting Nimoy Salsa Flash game!

Posted by: Miguel on August 30, 2002 12:54 PM

Well, far be it from me to leave Nimoy unmolested...so, here ya go:

Leonard Nimoy Ballad of Bilbo Baggins (long, long, painfully long load time.)

OK, it's actually November Rain, minus the cold part. But that's not why I'm posting.

Your mental image, combined with this post, gives me a mental image of Nimoy playing guitar with a KFC bucket on his head.

My sincere apologies to your chapter of the Guns n Roses Fan Club, Mr Davis. Have Patience with me.

I am not an afficionado, though I confess to a liking for Live and Let Die.

Posted by: kafkaesque on August 30, 2002 05:55 PM

I just want to level a complaint about that damn "Bilbo" song. If there is even a whiff of a hint of a mention of it, it becomes lodged in my brain like a tumor and I can't get it out without a complete frontal lobotomy.

This is undesirable to me (although perhaps the rest of you would be relieved about my post-lobo operation), so I politely request a moratorium on any future links to "Bilbo" and Spock together. Separate: okay. Together: bad.

Not that I think you guys should really heed anything I say, nor believe you would anyway.

"My sincere apologies to your chapter of the Guns n Roses Fan Club, Mr Davis."

We're actually the "Cock of the Walk Cock Rock 'Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk' Rock-n-Jock, Bach's a Crock, Writer's Block bloc", or at least that's what it says on my smock.

And I even checked to make sure it didn't post when I got the "500 Server Misconfiguration Error".

Főck.

Posted by: Crash on August 30, 2002 09:05 PM

Dude, that totally deserved a repeat.

Posted by: ColdChef on August 30, 2002 09:07 PM

Here seems as good a place as any to let Anathema know that my cd has arrived, and soon he will get a review of same.

I'm just disappointed he left out the "Bilbo Baggins" song. You know, the one that Leonard Nimoy sang....

Posted by: b****fire on August 31, 2002 09:18 AM

Romakimmy: I'm thinking it's a shadow. But thanks for letting me start my day by closely inspecting Nimoy facial hair... :)

For a truly unnerving sensation, put on "Greased Lightning" from the Grease soundtrack and watch that animation.

Spock was a greaser, yo.

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
