September 06, 2002 : Administrator, please hope me!

Anyone else seeing this a little too often? I'm thinking our admins are spending a little too much time getting drubk, and a little too little time...adminning...or whatever it is we're paying them for.

What? They're not getting paid?

Never mind.

People have said these things about that :

It's just our laissez-faire attitude.

Roughly translated it means "apathetic".

I forgot to mention this. Where that error message is asking me to inform the administrator of anything I may have done to cause the error, the answer should be as follows:

I was typing one-handed, nude, drunk, standing on my head whilst flinging poo with the other hand and masturbating with my feet.

It's really quite impressive, and never fails to amaze guests at parties.

Posted by: Crash on September 6, 2002 06:44 PM

maybe I just don't spend enough time here, but I've never seen that message.

(i feel like such an outsider now)

But that gives you serious cool points, scribb. You are now permitted to slouch on the periphery looking all deep 'n' surly a la James Dean.

Posted by: jonmc on September 6, 2002 07:35 PM

What are you rebelling against, kid?

Posted by: kafkaesque on September 6, 2002 07:36 PM

I can't believe you're gonna leave me hanging out to dry like that.

Posted by: kafkaesque on September 6, 2002 07:43 PM

whattaya got?

Posted by: scribblative on September 6, 2002 07:43 PM

(argh - too late...)

Posted by: scribblative on September 6, 2002 07:44 PM

you know, ironically, when I posted that last message, I got the error.

(insert comedy muted trombone here -> "wah, wah waaaaah...!")

maybe a reinstall of MT is in order? maybe an install of the latest MT release? maybe i should just get packing instead?

Posted by: eyeballkid on September 6, 2002 07:51 PM

Get packing, you beach bum. But I wouldn't hesitate to possibly back up 9622 and reinstall the sucka with the latest release of MT, using MySQL. I did that for adampsyche.com, and I noticed a big speed increase. Sometimes, for reason unbeknownst to me, having an MT installation around for a while slows it down (or so it seems). It was nice to clean house and reinstall fresh.

Thing is, that would require the reconfiguration of users and templates (no big deal) and categories, but that isn't a big deal. It is a bit of work, but when exported, the categories are exported as well, so you can import them back into the same categories they were in before. with a one user blog this isn't a big deal, but users would have to be set back up again.

i don't know. i'm rambling. go get drubk.

A) No one spends enough time here, scribb. Especially you. More scribb! More scribb!

B) I noticed it today for the first time. I'll keep an eye on it. If it happens to you, post it here. It may be nothing.

Posted by: jpoulos on September 6, 2002 07:59 PM

yeah, I got it earlier today too. I was gonna try to rally the troops or something over the weekend maybe.

Posted by: tj on September 6, 2002 08:49 PM

I can't figure it out. You louts are a bunch of wild, half-drunk, obscene poopthrowers-

and I still really like you all.

Nothing to do with the thread, but what else is new?

I'm going to go do an investigative report on defective brooms now.

Posted by: b****fire on September 6, 2002 09:53 PM

i resent that bunny.

we're all drunk.

I'm not drubk, just a little tiddly. It's Oktoberfest in my Kentucky neighborhood - yes, it's as awful as that sounds.... Luckily the ooompah band is at the other end of the fest, and there's a pretty funkin' groovin' R&B band playing outside my window right about now. Hubby and I even slow-danced to an Al Green tune on the front stoop a bit earlier. Whether times are good or bad, and I'm happy or sad....

When I went MySQL on the mighty 'bottle, I found it slowed posting and commenting down A LOT. Just sayin'.

Anyone got some aspirin in here?

Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on September 6, 2002 11:10 PM

Fuck me, I'm drubk.

I just wanted to say that, having just returned from seeing a local band that sounded amazingly like the Squirel Nut Zippers. But a very nice cover of the the Zippers, still. And they did do a nifty cover of They're Red Hot.

And we all got drubk.

Happy evenings, monkeys!

Posted by: octobersurprise on September 7, 2002 12:31 AM

what the fuck is this world coming to? I'm SOBER!!!

Posted by: tj on September 7, 2002 02:00 AM

I am now drub... I still lack the k.

But, Boddington's willing, I'll get there!

Posted by: kafkaesque on September 7, 2002 02:12 AM

Dammit, it's first thing in the morning, and I'm not drubk at all anymore. I got that error too. I even made up a haiku about it. I was drubk then, you bet your arse (or at least not quite yet hung over). That might have caused the error I suppose.

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
