Grunt!
Posted by: ColdChef on September 21, 2002 02:28 AMAnd since I have the soapbox here, let me also add this:
Okay, can we all agree you can't be held responsible for television that you tend to watch after...say...11pm? You know, the TV's just on. You're flipping around. Looking for something you haven't seen before.
So, I started watching this piece of crap called "100 Girls." It's about a sensitive guy that spends a college semester getting in touch with his feminine side so he can get laid.
So, as I'm watching this, it starts to remind me of a similar themed movie I'd seen. A few similarities between the two films:
1. Sensitive, but unworldly geek finds love under very unusual circumstances.
2. Object of his desire is ridiculously hot, even though the whole point of the film is looking for "inner beauty."
3. This guy "really" understands women. In a way that no other man really does. He is the uberAlanAlda.
4. He has a showdown with the "jock." (yeah, okay, I'll admit, that's a pretty common theme in these kinds of films)
5. His best friend is a poonhound that has sexual dysfunction problems. And sustains a penis injury.
6. The guy just won't shut the fuck up about James Bond.
7. It's neatly framed, timewise.
8. In the end, our hero makes a wildly romantic gesture which breaks women's hearts. Because, you know. He's so sensitive.
OKAY! HERE'S THE GOOD PART!
I look up the movie on IMDB. And to my astonishment (not really) both movies were written and directed by THE SAME GUY! (the other movie in contention was "Eight Days a Week.")
What's the point of all this? The point is: how can this dickweed get to make two movies in a row with basically the same plot, and someone lets him get away with it?
C'mon. Surely someone saw the first movie before they greenlit the second one. Could NO ONE say, "You know, Mike, I think I've heard this story before."
I don't know why this pisses me off so much. Maybe it's the Sangria.
Fcuk it. I'm going to bed.
Posted by: ColdChef on September 21, 2002 02:59 AMWhat I want to know is, why the cabal of Holly-dollars gives people like him money, but doesn't give any of us the ducats for that fine documentary we're making here on 9622, live, every day. Bastards.

I borrowed a whole sleeve full of pirate movies from a friend recently, and popped '100 Girls' into the drive thinking it would be, ummm, adult.
Imagine my disappointment.
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on September 21, 2002 04:09 AM...uh, while imagine your confusion at what I meant by 'sleeve full of movies'.
I don't even know what I meant.
