And here's a prezzy for him: beautiful, bitchin' bass players galore! I don't know who his favourite is, but mine is Louise Gordon from Veruca Salt. Take your pick, TJ - she's yours! In a metaphorical - but nice - way, of course...
Posted by at September 21, 2002 07:50 PMHappy birthday, TJ! A ska-filled year-long romp to ya!
Posted by: Miguel on September 21, 2002 07:52 PMServer, please post my "Parabéns, Tê Jota!". Thank you.
Posted by: Miguel on September 21, 2002 07:54 PMIt's about time someone gave me some respect around here.
Oh, and I don't usually do this, but since it's tj I'll break my rule just this once: Happy Birthday. There, I said it. As you were.
Posted by: 9622.net server on September 21, 2002 08:07 PMI have been informed that merely saying "Happy Birthday" with no jollity in tone may make me seem like a curmudgeon. Therefore, let me be the first to retract my rather dry "Happy Birthday" and replace it with this:
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you
You look like a monkey
and smell like one too.
Humph.
Posted by: 9622.net server on September 21, 2002 08:13 PMBarney sez : Happy Birthday, TJ!

Even the denizens of the forest are partying it up!

Favorite picture ever! That chipmunk actually resided as my desktop for a while because it's so utterly absurd.
Happy birthday, mr. tj, sir. My head is still pounding from last night, but I will raise a cup of coffee to you in lieu of a nice cocktail. Cheers!

Happy birthday, tj!
Miguel, I like my female bass players big, blond, and fire-breathing:

Happy Birthday, Brother Teej. As A present I will add you to my link sidebar sometime in the next coupla days. So here's my favorite rockin' babes, cos some like it shaved, some like it bushy, everybody likes some..
Posted by: jonmc on September 21, 2002 11:21 PMJust so I'm not diagnosed as a hopeless case of testosterone poisoning, here's the all-time hottest chick with a guitar. Enjoy your birthday, Dude. I'm off to watch Dogtown and Z-Boys...carry on.
Posted by: jonmc on September 21, 2002 11:27 PMWell I think she'd give the others a hell of a run for their money. Yeah. It's a self link. Please don't sue me.
Posted by: KevinSkomsvold on September 21, 2002 11:40 PMI don't have any good looking guitar-babes for you, but I do have this rather quaint cartoon....

too many werds
ugh.
maybe tomorrow
wow, i can spell tomorrow
I NEED ANOTHER DRINK THEN
Posted by: tj on September 22, 2002 02:33 AMin all seriousness,(as much as I can muster) I had the best birthday present ever tonight. I ran into my best friend from years ago (I almost lost because of a relationship I was in at the time). He is my brutha-frum-anutha-mutha and maybe, just maybe you may be hearing the musiacal stylings of Reel once again in the future.
I'm sorry if I'm, getting all weepy, but it really meant that much to me
Posted by: tj on September 22, 2002 02:41 AMTJ just shambled over to his room and fell down. He then decided to change clothes. He opened a drawer next to him and grabbed two red shirts that were exactly the same color. He held them up, one in each hand, and said to me:
"Is this one, or two shirts?"
That is the funniest question I've ever been asked. Well, so far tonight anyway. It's still early.
Posted by: MarsCrash on September 22, 2002 02:55 AMyeah? umm any way, thanks to all my monkey brethern and sisren.
I'm gona go pass out noe.
Happy birthday, tj. I promise to look for hot bass players later, but it's Sunday football and I gotta go scream at the players on the tv set...Remember, it's all about the orange juice and b12 vitamins the morning after. ;)
Posted by: romakimmy on September 22, 2002 09:40 AMCrash, you're not going to believe this but I dated that bass player.
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 10:29 AMHappy Birthday tj, if only I could give you a small piece of what I've been given. @-) *raises first cup of coffee toward the midwest*
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 10:40 AMI didn't want to steal attention away from tj, but I thought since the picture was there and all...
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 01:20 PMPlease, if you will, gently and slowly fuck the fuck off.
Migs, that was...outstanding. ;-)
Posted by: adam on September 22, 2002 05:43 PM
i don't understand this site. is it some sort of neurological experiment?
Zounds. I think I needed a dribk or two after that.
Posted by: mcwetboy on September 22, 2002 09:50 PMZounds.
And gadzooks! Has mcwetboy been here before? I don't recall seeing the name 'round these parts, but then I can't read everything either ... damn. So confused.
* flings poo in ritual and friendly greeting, just to be on the safe side *
Posted by: yhbc on September 22, 2002 10:12 PMIt's what happens when you mess with the mind/machine/chemical nexus.
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 10:38 PManathema, you can't just toss that out there and not tell the story. when? for how long? how was she? etc.
Posted by: jpoulos on September 22, 2002 10:44 PMHe has, but damn infrequently. He is topped up with a couple of pints in order to relax from the events in the ole grey-and-white, and in preparation for fighting city hall on the morrow. mcwetboy is a cheap drubk.
Posted by: mcwetboy on September 22, 2002 10:46 PMNot for very long, it's very sordid. She ended up getting engaged to a dear friend of mine. But do to extenuating circumstances it didn't work out. She then joined 9 Pound Hammer which became Nashville Pussy and according to their site she is no longer a member. Oh. My. God. Her brother is Cherokee Parks who is 7 feet tall and played for Duke and has been tossed around to at least a few NBA teams. Cory is 6-3 and usually wears huge heels. Being a good law student, I'm not going to get into the real good dirt, but I will email you the name she became known as affectionately between some friends of mine. It's all part of my personal connection to the Burr/Demme/Powder Wig Prosthetic nexus.
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 10:55 PMJ-Po are you still going fishing, or are you going to come play eXtreme Croquet(tm) with your Monkey Brethren?
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 10:59 PMmcboy, I hear yhbc has some experience in fighting city hall. maybe you can get some advice.
Posted by: anathema on September 22, 2002 11:32 PMUnfortunately, I fought City (okay, Town) Hall so well, I ended up inside of it. I think it was Lyndon Johnson who said, with regard to J. Edgar Hoover and why he was still around, "I'd rather have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in". The same kind of thing happens even in local politics - activists activate, agitators agitate, and reformers (seek) reform, but when they're successful they end up being elected to the very positions they ran people out of in the first place, and find themselves relatively helpless to change the status quo from the inside.
My, that was a long, boring, post.
Speaking of croquet, though - yeah whatsthedeal? Is it still just me and the anathmatic against the world, or what?
Posted by: yhbc on September 22, 2002 11:57 PMCall me a freak from the 80s, but Michael Steele gives me pause...
Happy Birthday, tj! May your next year be better than the past.
Posted by: Unclefes on September 23, 2002 12:59 AMShe reminds me of Kate Bush, Fes, a musical lady who has always had a certain effect on me that shall go undescribed.
Also : tj has a hang-over! Neener neener neener!
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on September 23, 2002 03:33 AMCommish, that is not a boring post. I had the same experience - interest leading to involvement, leading to extreme involvement, leading to candidacy. Thank god I lost.
But I remember the day I got the newspaper's endorsement. I was going door to door, and stopped by to visit a man whose t-shirt bore the legend It's Not How Deep You Fish, It's How You Wiggle Your Worm as he enjoyed baloney and saltines on his front porch.
He said, "Yup, I saw your name in the paper." and I replied, "I was quite pleased to receive the endorsement." To which he replied in his Kentucky drawl, "Honey, it's the kiss o' death."
Posted by: tizzie on September 23, 2002 08:13 AMOh my god, NOW I'm really freaked out! We may need to go into emergency session.
Posted by: anathema on September 23, 2002 09:16 AMYeah, I saw that link over at the Other Site. I had the same reaction as you.
I notice that my username is turning into the plumb line for nutjobs over there.
Little do they know that I go by many names....
(but no, one of them is not neo.!)
Anyhow, it feels good to turn over the Big Trophy of Wackdom to another contestant. I just hope said individual leaves the monkey house alone. I don't think we could manage. the poo production to keep up with the necessary flinging. And it isn't like we'd want to subcontract it.
Posted by: b****fire on September 23, 2002 10:34 AMThe subcontracting has already begun. Bunny, you'll always be nutjob #1 with me. @-)
Posted by: anathema on September 23, 2002 10:39 AM[whisper] tj, i don't know if you're still hung over, but happy belated birthday. i was in our fair nation's capital this weekend celebrating a birthday that was not yours. if i'd known, i would have raised a dribk to you. [/whisper]
Also, here's my favorite chick bass player.
Posted by: witchstone on September 23, 2002 10:41 AMI always liked D'arcy.

But for me....

there's nothing sexier....

than a female drummer....

Sorry J-Po but the White Stripes woman looks like a drunken pug. Yikes!
Posted by: anathema on September 23, 2002 09:03 PMHappy birthday tj, sorry it's late, i was out for the weekend.
Posted by: eyeballkid on September 24, 2002 12:50 AMI missed TJ's birthday, too (as well as the Great MeFi Psychotic Break of 2002). Hope it was a fantastic birthday, TJ, and that you'll make a full recovery ...

Posted by: kafkascampi on September 23, 2003 01:26 PMHappy Birthday last Sunday, TJ! You don't look a day older than last year.
I'm gona go pass out noe.
Hope it was that good again this time!
actually the festivities will be this weekend. I was sick as a dog, so Marty and I will be having a combined party on Saturday (his birthday is OCt 3).
Posted by: tj on September 23, 2003 03:24 PMRight on Craddock boys. I'll hoist a few in your honor.
Posted by: ufez on September 23, 2003 04:04 PMAww, happy birthday, you Virgo-Libra cusp bastard.
I, too, will throw back a couple in your honor.
Posted by: cowboy_sally on September 23, 2003 05:02 PMConsidering the day I'm having today, I should start throwing them back now. But happy birthday!
Posted by: Vidiot on September 23, 2003 05:26 PMHappy B-day, Tee Jay.
Wow that sounds like pig latin. I, too, will throw back a few in your honor. They would've been thrown back anyway but hey, everything needs a purpose.
Posted by: jonmc on September 23, 2003 05:33 PMHappy B-day, Tee Jay.

Posted by: jonmc on September 23, 2003 05:33 PMHappy birthday, TJ! Sorry for the lateness - I'll make up for it next year, bro.
Keep it up, whatever it is, hear?
Posted by: Miguel on September 23, 2003 11:11 PMHappy Birthday greetings to both the Craddock brothers, indeed!
And anathema - there are croquet-players in this month's issue of Smithsonian magazine. The issue is not online yet, but I'm keeping a close watch for when it is.
Posted by: yhbc on September 23, 2003 11:49 PMHappy birthday.
I will drink nothing in your honor, but I'll go wet on something, if you like.
OK, everyone, move along.
Let's close this thread up for another year.
