Posted by: whatnot on September 27, 2002 12:31 PMI live just across the river in exotic Covington, Kentucky, Lupo. I became a close personal friend of the Ickster when he ran into my parked car during his rookie season with the Bungles. We were pals from then until it came back from the body shop....
Posted by: tizzie on September 27, 2002 12:45 PMcincinnatti was the turn-around point for a road trip i took a few years ago. nice little city. i remember crossing a bridge into kentucky. maybe i passed your house.
Posted by: jpoulos on September 27, 2002 01:02 PMCincinnati: a good place to turn around in.
Maybe you and me were never meant to be, but maybe think of me once in a while.
If it was the blue bridge they ride across in Rainman, you were about 5 blocks away. I'd post a picture of the bridge but I have no idea how to do that...
Posted by: tizzie on September 27, 2002 01:19 PMI was gonna post that this morning, adam, but my headline wasn't nearly as amusing.
*raises glass* (OK, raises can)
*drinks a toast to adam*
The picture is not visible. Please provide URL. Thank you.
Posted by: anathema on September 27, 2002 01:26 PMshit. i download the pic and upload it to my yahoo briefcase, and that always gets mangled. do i have the go ahead to just hot link the damned thing from the page, since it's just coming off of yahoo's damned servers anyhow? i mean, whether it's downloaded from the briefcase, or from the other page, what's the difference?
ok, i'll stop being a grumbly monkey. here ya go.

tizzie is referring to the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge. There are several different pictures available if you click that there link thingy.
And anathema is looking for this link.
*toasts adam again*
Keep it up, adam. I need to get totally fucking drubk today after reading this.
Thanks, Crash, you linkmeister. But how do people put pictures (not links) into their posts? Perhaps a tutorial by one of those velour-wearing-good-looking types? Please hope me!
Posted by: tizzie on September 27, 2002 01:35 PMThat picture made my day and inspires me to "win one for the Monkeys" this weekend when the commish and I playi eXtreme croquet. There will be pictures.
Posted by: anathema on September 27, 2002 01:39 PM
But please do not post pix unless they reside on your own server, tizzie. thankyaverymuch.
tizzie, you would insert an image by typing the following:
{img src="http://www.foo.com/pictureofmiguelinafunnyhat.jpg"}
but rather than curly braces you would use the left bracket "", respectively. And of course inserting the proper URL, since I'm pretty sure Foo.com doesn't have a picture of Miguel in a funny hat. Or maybe they do...
haha
[img src = "http://picture url"] (except those would be pointy bracket thingies.
I suck and wish for death.

Bye, y'all! I got an interview today at that crazy ranch where jonmc works!
So, does that mean I should show up with a punk rock t-shirt and a flannel?
Hey good luck Adam! Remember not to slam anyone over the head with a laptop.
They hate that.
Flannel on a job interview is always an excellent choice, especially if you know someone else who works there and is always dressing that way. It shows you're a team slacker.

Posted by: My Gel on September 27, 2002 01:49 PMI only wish I had thought of carrying my kid like that earlier.
please tell me your arms are not that hairy ...
*quietly unplugs kafka's office paper shredder*
Good luck, adam.
Remember, odd as it may seem, on an interview, no one cares how much you can lift with your penis.
I think I could probably break most of the little bones in my hand with my monitor...
lemmee see here....
ow! Ow! OW!
yep.
*weeps dramatically*
Don't die, kafkaesque, pleeeeeze don't die!
*cheers inspiringly*
Go Adam, go Adam!
*says gratefully*
thanks for the advice about posting pics.
*wonders querulously*
Will I ever be brave enough to try it?
Let me get this straight. We are losing people to sales? I wish I could honestly wish you luck.

Posted by: anathema on September 27, 2002 02:26 PMooops. I mean Jane Goodall. How the hell did I manage to fungle that up. Shit.
Posted by: anathema on September 27, 2002 02:40 PMI need to get totally fucking drubk today after reading this.
I need to get totally fucking drubk tonight after meeting a collegue at the airport, finding out that yet another goddamn Italian strike will be taking place at the airport tomorrow, running all over the frickin' airport in heels for 3 hours trying to find a flight for my collegue that gets him to Rhodos by tomorrow, and trying to find another two practically non-existant flights on Sunday for me and another collegue before the conference starts on sunday night.
Italy I love. But the beurocrasy makes me go through my entire repetoire of Colourful Words And Phrases In Italian in a very.short.amount.of.time.
[/cranky n' frentic]
[mass amounts of limoncello]...
You were thinking of Diane Fosse, anathema,
who lived with gorillas right after blowing up a bunch of aliens, or something.
That was one of those posts I wish that had been lost.
*punches self in the kafkasian manner*
I just punched myself in the head, ya know, for luck.
wtf just happend there?
I swear, I think the server know when my typos are funnier than the actual post (It posted when I hit preview)

Ditto (for my post, I mean.) Should have gone on my blog. Administrator please hope me...

Posted by: romakimmy on September 27, 2002 04:42 PMtizzie, since no one else has answered: Yes, I see your bridge picture.
In fact, I downloaded it, ran it through Photoshop so I could zoom in on it, and you'll never guess who I found:

Followup to Jane Goodall on science friday:
...she believes in bigfoot, people. Bigfoot.
Hey crash you are curious George, well a human one at that, monkey.
You all have a nice pre-lude to the weekend you duRbnks, I'm outa here have a great weekend all, monkey butts up, cheers........
Crash! So that's where my missing monkey's been. I better get down to the bridge and fetch him home - he's late for supper! Thanks, pal.
I hope Adam comes back soon and tells us all about the huge signing bonus they offered him at the ranch. Then buys drinks for everyone. Wouldn't that be swell?
Posted by: tizzie on September 27, 2002 07:57 PMI can't believe I forgot to mention the whole Jane "Bigfoot" Goodall thing. I actually saw this "documentary" on the big screen when I was a lad.
Posted by: anathema on September 27, 2002 07:57 PMSTOMACH, SOUR OR UPSET -
Seems to be great healing power in a glass of Coke with a straw in it when you are sick. It sooths a sour stomach... may be the carbonation.
Try hot Dr. Pepper with lemon in the winter for this.
Other people swear by 7-Up.
Soaking in water as hot as you can stand will almost always end a stomach ache.
On a completely inrelated note, I watched both High Fidelity and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back tonight with the Mrs. While HF was of course terrific, I have to admit that J&SBSB was on the Last Train To Sucksville a bit.
Oddly, bith made me feel a tad wistful, as did the fact that it's Google's 4th birthday apparently. All us GenX grungsters are coming of middleage, I guess..
**sniff**
For jonmc and other WKRP afficionados: Venus Flytrap last seen on spaceship "Firefly" on Fox Friday night television. Disguised as, I believe, a chaplain. Huh.
Posted by: readymade on September 27, 2002 11:46 PMI have such a crush on Jack Black in High Fidelity. This could be indicative of a deeper problem.

God love us, we're like freakin' Scholastic Books around this place.
Posted by: tizzie on February 26, 2003 09:21 PMNew from "Freakin' Scholastic Books"
Dennis Hopper reads Green Eggs and Ham.
"Listen, man, did I say I wanted 'em in a box?
WRONG!
I didn't want 'em with a fox, man.
I get my eggs from here, man, that's numbers!
That's relative physics, man!
Like the primordial moment that egg looked out and saw the sunrise, man!
Don't you get it?"
or
"Don't you f**kin' look at me!
Mommy! Mommy! Frank wants green eggs!
NO! Don't you look at me!"
...and now for Keith Richards' reading of "Harold and the Giant Purple Crayon and the Invisible Snakes Crawling on Me, CRAWLING ON ME!"
Posted by: Mars Crash on February 28, 2003 07:26 PMRocks, however, seldom monkey. This dilemma has troubled the finest minds since the invention of having too much time on one's hands.
Posted by: arto on December 17, 2003 04:18 AMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
