November 11, 2002 : A big eep-out to the Nelson Knitting Co.

If you're in Philly between now and December 15th make sure you stop in to see this show at the ICA. Make sure you say hello to these guys.
This private collection was started in 1985 and now includes over 1,500 monkeys.
More sock monkey stuff including instructions. What is this woman thinking? And how about Undressed or baby monkeys?

People have said these things about that :

I don't think I'll ever get to Philly, but God bless you for pushing the evil monkeys off the main page.

I was prepared for nightmares tonight.

We miss him around here.

...and the "I'm a little teapot" sitting position.

(is it just me or is this place dead today?)

Posted by: pardon me on November 12, 2002 04:15 PM

Now why couldn't they have done this when I lived there?

I'm too busy raucously celebrating my birthday.

Dig me! I'm 31!

*cries*

Posted by: kafkaesque on November 12, 2002 04:27 PM

Really?!?! Happy birthday, K'esq! In 22 minutes, I will drink to your health.

Posted by: tizzie on November 12, 2002 04:39 PM

For your birthday - a Harley, dude.

You deserve it.

Posted by: tizzie on November 12, 2002 04:42 PM

What?! And no thread! That's a crime. I mean, if Crash, Jr. has his own thread, then kafkasomething must have a thread. If I wasn't at work I'd be googling for just the right image. Somebody?

Hey, happy birthday anyway. If it's any consolation, I turned 32 two weeks ago, and it wasn't so bad. Certainly nothing a little Ben-Gay can't fix.

Posted by: pardon me on November 12, 2002 04:43 PM

wow tizzie. I didn't know the Village People had monkey counter-parts.

Posted by: Ufez Jones on November 12, 2002 04:58 PM

Happy Birthday Master Kaf!

And for you: a blushing pile of excrement.

Posted by: witchstone on November 12, 2002 05:04 PM

My mother used to make these monkeys years ago. When I was going through some of her things, I found the "How to make Sock toy book". I would like to try my hand at it but I have been unable to find the socks. Could you tell me how to order them or what stores carry them? Thank you very much. They are so cute.

Dear Ms. Buchanan,
I am not sure which socks you should use, but I would suggest that you do not use any socks previously worn by the people who habitate this monkey community.

You would not believe where they have been.
Happy crafting,
T. Izzie

Just a guess, but maybe stretched out wool socks would work best. Any other suggestions for Mrs. B.?
Oh! How could I forget? Mrs. B., you are cordially invited to join us in New York City on Friday the 6th of June for a little get together. There will be lots of monkeys. Email for details.

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
