I can't imagine wanting to be a virgin again. Wasn't it bad enough the first time? The ignorant fumblings, the personal embarrassment, the "is this right?" questions...Ugh. Much better later on when you've got a little more self-assurance in the sack, both with your own bod, and someone else's. My own experience wasn't even all that terrible, and I'd still never want to go through it again. Especially with someone I wanted to live with the rest of my life. I mean, what if they suck? (no pun intended...sucking often being a good thing). I say "try before you buy."

Only secondary virginity? How 'bout tertiary and quaternary (or whatever the correct numerical terms might be)? Is there a limit to how many time you can lose your virginity? After all, AA won't deny you membership no matter how many times you lapse. And are you ever truly a secondary virgin or are you forever a recovering-ex-virgin? Are there twelve steps? And when you're old and decrepit and ugly, are you a renewed virgin, or just out of luck?

Unfortunately I changed categories involuntarily. "nuff said.

But seriously, the concept isn't a bad one. Worked for me just fine.
And particularly for folks who feel pressured into something they don't want to do-the idea has a lot going for it. Sorry I don't have a wisecrack but usually the rest of you can make up for that deficiency. ;-)

A wisecrack would be wholly inappropriate, my flaming powder-puffed tailed freind. That's something nobody should have to go through.

As for virginity I quote Tim Sandlin:

"Losing your virginity used to be a big deal, maybe it should still be. There are only three things you can only do once; be born, die, lose your virginity. The third is the only one you have any control over."

Such personal revelations are best done over at metatalk, so that they may be compared to Hitler and/or pancakes and then used as a reference point as to why metafilter isn't as good as it was back when computers were steam-powered.

Here, you're merely threatened with getting a photoshop'd Coldchef licking your face.

Not implying rape exactly-but it's a long unpleasant story and only tangential to the discussion (not that that ever stopped anything over at Metatalk, mind you. Besides I am still bunny-non-grata over there.)

As for Coldchef, somebody needs to get him away from Photoshop before someone gets hurt. We could let him play around with Paintshop Pro, tho. It's cheaper.
