January 26, 2003 : You've come a long way, baby...

As a little gift to all our thundersluts, 9622.net is now mirrored at http://www.thundersluts.com/index.php and http://www.thundersluts.org/index.php.

I'm pretty sure ColdChef coined the term here, so I'll gladly give him ownership of the domains if he wants them. I just thought I'd snatch (no pun intended) them up before someone else did.

People have said these things about that :

What's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah, wOOt!

Posted by: anathema on January 26, 2003 05:47 PM

sooooweeeeet!

Posted by: eyeballkid on January 26, 2003 05:53 PM

I love it. If you want to mirror at littlefuckingrayofsunshine.com (long story), let me know.

Posted by: adampsyche on January 26, 2003 05:54 PM

Or......slapyourass.com

Posted by: ana unagi on January 26, 2003 05:59 PM

Hysterical. Good lord, y'all crack me up.

Posted by: dejah420 on January 28, 2003 01:18 AM

It is amazingly great. Lupo, you are the man.

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 01:18 AM

And, since this is a light thread, may I bring up the subject, that I'm completely ready for some 9622.net cafepress t-shirts or something. Preferably a softball jersey. Am i alone? I doubt it!

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 01:29 AM

ok then...

how about this for the front?

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 04:46 AM

Oooh. I like that.

Isn't the cafe press stuff kinda shitty? At least that's what I hear.

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 09:40 AM

While we're talking about random shit, check this out! Best. Ebay. Auction. Ever.

And someone paid $18.50 for it!

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 09:45 AM

That auction was out of Cincinnati. A friend of yours, tizzie?

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 09:48 AM

witchstone, we should write a play about that. It's got comedy, tragedy, greed, pathos, everything!

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 09:51 AM

lupo, if they weren't before, they are now.

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 09:52 AM

OK, it's true, I'm the one who auctioned it off. I just couldn't break up with her myself.

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 09:53 AM

bitch.

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 09:57 AM

hehehe!

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 09:58 AM

I can dig it, tj. That's really cool.

The cafepress stuff isn't screen printed, it's iron-on, which I think is most people's biggest qualm with it. My (non-personalised) MeFi softball jersey is just fine, though, after repeated washings. Anybody know of any web-based alternatives?

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 11:45 AM

Witchstone, that auction is great. I think it's hysterical.

Posted by: adampsyche on January 28, 2003 01:17 PM

more expensive, and I'd definitely need to redo the artwork. but there's this.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 02:17 PM

Mmmmmmm.....I've always wanted to get Adam in a bowling shirt-
++I'm all over that shit++

Posted by: aw on January 28, 2003 02:24 PM

((pardon my french))

Posted by: aw on January 28, 2003 02:25 PM

I love bowling shirts!

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 02:34 PM

who doesn't, really? That's why I though of it.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 02:35 PM

That's bad freakin' ass, tj. big logo on back, customized names on front? Tasty.

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 02:49 PM

I have mixed feelings about bowling shirts. On one hand they're all retro-cool and shirt, but if you have real skinny arms like I do, the just make you look even skinnier, which sucks if yer a guy.

Posted by: jonmc on January 28, 2003 02:50 PM

That's why the skinny guys wear long sleeves underneath. There are always solutions, grasshopper.

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 03:08 PM

Bow-ling shirts! Bow-ling shirts!

How cool would they look with an embroidered:

or

on the breast.

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 03:19 PM

aw, c'mon jon. from one skinny-armed guy to the next, you can pull it off. We all can.

Or, if you wanna bulk up, just fling more poo!

And lupo, hear hear!! (or here here!! whichever it is.)

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 03:23 PM

what I have done so far, there was a martini in his hand as well, but this is all I recovered from a crash just now.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 03:32 PM

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 03:32 PM

D'oh!

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 03:38 PM

His eyes need to be open. As it is, he looks constipated.

Of course, that may have been your intent, in which case a hearty "Well done!" is in order.

Posted by: Crash on January 28, 2003 03:59 PM

Hmmm... I need a new name, don't I...like Karen or foxy-poo-slinger or something.

Posted by: aw on January 28, 2003 04:00 PM

Yeah, "aw" just wouldn't look right on anything. Might as well have a big question mark on a shirt.

Posted by: aw on January 28, 2003 04:02 PM

Cool, cool, cool! My first ever bowling shirt, and it's gonna have a monkey on it, and it's gonna say "Tizzie"!

TJ, you are my new hero.

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 04:08 PM

"Quixoticlife" would look great. Q's rawk.

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 04:10 PM

OK, now do we put a beer bottle or martini glass in his hand?

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 04:32 PM

martini. definitely martini.

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 04:35 PM

I vote beer (who hell has martinis while bowling?) but I'm not going to be too let down either way.

Helluva job, tj.

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 04:35 PM

are you drawing these, tj?

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 04:35 PM

I just noticed that a shot glass would work too...

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 04:36 PM

yeah

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 04:37 PM

it's based off of a monkey in the Clerks cartoons though.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 04:39 PM

Okay,

a) tj, you are a fucking god.
2) I opt for beer in his hand because, well, I feel it is less bourgeoise and more truthful to be swilling a cold one. Even though probably from the standpoint of the Russian Revolution I would be considered bourgeoise, and if any of us were under Pol Pot, we'd all be dead.

Anyhoo, bowling shirts rock. However, I have one that has the weird elastic around the sleeves, and it's pretty uncomfortable as the elastic wears over time (My current bowling shirt says Portland Caca; I bought it in a thrift store. Who is Portland Caca? Who knows? But it's all about poo, so that has to be good).

So, as I'm rambling on and on (it seems I haven't been here much lately), I'll ask for one more thing: Administrator? Can I get posting privileges yet? Not that I ever find anything to post, just, you know, because I want it?

Posted by: readymade on January 28, 2003 05:31 PM

It looks great, tj. Can I make a small request though? Can we use a different tagline? That one is just a little to close to those oval stickers that you see on just turned 16 year old's cars that say "We are the people your parents warned you about." and "1% angel" and whatnot. Again, I'll bow away if I'm not in the consensus.

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 05:32 PM

it was just a random thing I thre in there for placement.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 05:33 PM

I vote for the martini glass. Because it's more debonair. Which says "We may be monkeys, and we may bowl, but we definitely have class."

I mean, right?

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 05:38 PM

Remember: I'm unemployed, and this gave me something to do today.

As far as these shirts go, If we really do it, we REALLY have to get our shit together re: collecting funds and such and orders and whatnot.

I'm just an asshole who can draw, someone else can organize this as far as I'm concerned. I'll root throught the taglines and see if something strikes me.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 05:38 PM

I'm a big fan of the "faux-velvet mockery" line.

Posted by: witchstone on January 28, 2003 05:44 PM

ok, changed the tagline in the image to something that you can wear in public and not get things thrown at you. same link

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 05:46 PM

ooh, i really like the gray box thingys.

Posted by: ufez on January 28, 2003 06:18 PM

tj: that kicks ass. one thing, though:

martinis have OLIVES! :-)

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 06:24 PM

ok, um... fuck off. ;)

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 06:27 PM

I like "It's, like, mysterious and stuff".

There are at least two other taglines that I like:

9622.net: We can't have nice things.

AND

9622.net: Unfortunately all the good ideas were taken.

Posted by: jpoulos on January 28, 2003 06:30 PM

yeah, I think it should be one of those too.

That's the easiest thing to change, so I'll do up a 9622 wallpaper with this design and those taglines after I finish cooking my dinner

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 06:33 PM

Bowling shirt, I'm down, & I love cursive writing.

Lupo you are the a true God.

Posted by: Thomcatspike on January 28, 2003 06:54 PM

Where did that "the" come from, whoops.

Posted by: Thomcatspike on January 28, 2003 07:05 PM

anyway, I just burned the living fuck out of my thumb, which makes using the 5 button mouse more than a little painful. so no more smoky martini monkey wallpapers for at least a few hours. I'll start a new thread when they're done.

Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 07:13 PM

Exile from Monkeyville

I'm going out on a limb here.

1) I probably would never wear a bowling shirt. I think t-shirts would be better.
2) I wouldn't wear anything with a martini glass or beer on it.

Guess I'll be left to myself with a Sharpie and an old t-shirt.

Posted by: ana unagi on January 28, 2003 07:44 PM

anathema, it's the monkey's drink, not yours.
i don't smoke, but the cig gives the monkey attitude.
but hey, to each their own.

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 08:10 PM

and tj, sorry about your thumb.

I'd offer to kiss it and make it swell, but that would be so .... thunderslutty.

Posted by: tizzie on January 28, 2003 08:11 PM

I'll only* take one if it has a cigarette and a martini glass.

And the tagline says "It's funny because they're monkeys!"**

* - kind of half kidding
** - ditto

Posted by: yhbc on January 28, 2003 08:28 PM
Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
