As promised, I have a few wallpapers here for you perusal.
All are this image, using different taglines.

unfortunately all the good ideas were taken
It's, like, mysterious and stuff.
As some of you may know, the black and white version is what I've been working on for 9622.net Bowling Shirts.
and now...
Posted by tj at January 28, 2003 08:31 PMHere is where I make my plea for shirts sized to fit the more robust physique.
This is, of course, followed by savage mockery from people who can kiss my hairy yellow butt.
Posted by: Crash on January 28, 2003 09:29 PM6X! w00t!
Twenty more pounds and I can work from home...
Posted by: Crash on January 28, 2003 09:54 PMI would like to take a moment to praise our monkey brother tay-hota for all of his fine work, which included an unpleasant episode with a burnt thumb.
Good Gawd-Day-um, when you create shit for monkeys to wear, it's pure gold. God bless you brother teej. This will be the only webby product I will ever buy, and I will wear it until it falls apart.
Posted by: readymade on January 28, 2003 10:34 PMAfter all is said and done, it looks like these things are gonna run about 40 bucks per shirt (maybe a little more with name stitching). It all depends on how many people actually order one.
As I said before if someone else wants do actually organize this (money things, placing order, shipping the shirts out when they're done, etc.) please speak up.
Posted by: tj on January 28, 2003 11:15 PMTay-jota is like unto a god on earth, and I would bear his man-babies if I were physically able.
Well done, cap'n!
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on January 28, 2003 11:19 PMno one's asked me this yet, but yes, that's where his other hand is.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 12:02 AMGood-bye domo-kun, hello monkey. Seriously teej, that's some mighty fine artwork. I solemnly promise never to bug you again about the lack of swap cd's that you organized!. Starting now. ;)
Posted by: ufez on January 29, 2003 12:32 AMNow that's weird, ufez. I also swapped a domokun-based wallpaper (where domo dares!) for one of tj's cool things.
Simian serendipity!
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on January 29, 2003 03:12 AMBrilliant screen-adorner and general pick-me-up, TJ! He looks intelligent, quizzical and randy - exactly like us. Thanks, great master!
Posted by: Miguel on January 29, 2003 03:31 AMWe'd tell you, but then we'd have to kill you. And eat your heart with a nice handful of Pocky and a 40 of malt liquor.
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on January 29, 2003 08:02 AMMr. unagi: Just hit those nice links above, whereby Stavros has to kill me and eat my heart, etc.
Posted by: readymade on January 29, 2003 09:49 AMWe can't have nice things is my new wallpaper. Thank you, tj, you magnificent bastard!
More versions in the works? Or a blank template and font name/file so that we can homegrow some similar? Because there's been significant amnounts of good taglines passed this way...
Posted by: Unclefes on January 29, 2003 10:17 AMAs I said before if someone else wants do actually organize this (money things, placing order, shipping the shirts out when they're done, etc.) please speak up.
Up! I'll do it.
(ok, what do I do?)
TJ, they grey part doesn't really count as a second color, right? So it's a 1 color screenprint?
But we need to choose a shirt style first?
Yes, these things rock to a mighty and wonderful degree as they are, but a grow-yer-own tagline version would kick the proverbial it up a proverbial notch.
It's always great when someone else does something you had it in the back of your mind that you'd try, and then they do it better than you ever would have.
Them's primo primate pictures, tj.
I want a bowling shirt. Or six.
Posted by: Chico on January 29, 2003 10:33 AMBut we need to choose a shirt style first?
They're all good, but the Swingmaster just reaches out and grabs you, don't it? Black and hunter for me.
Posted by: Unclefes on January 29, 2003 12:17 PMNo, I didn't do it. A friend on one of my other forums put that together. Very talented gal.
Want a marshmallow?
Posted by: b****fire on January 29, 2003 12:20 PMDo they all need to be the same style and color? I imagine so. I definitely like the Swingmaster or the Loungemaster.
Posted by: jpoulos on January 29, 2003 12:39 PMCan't we do a color or two? Not a full-color version, like the one above, but maybe a two-color?
Posted by: jpoulos on January 29, 2003 12:40 PMI like the Retrobowler myself. (And yeah, tizzie, it does seem like grey would just be a tint of black, wouldn't it? I dunno.)
Bring on the monkeyshirts! Yay TJ!
Posted by: cowboy_sally on January 29, 2003 12:45 PMIt appears to me that we *ahem* chunky monkeys have only the choice of the Classic or the Loungemaster, and only in limited colors.
Posted by: Crash on January 29, 2003 01:14 PMThe grey/black Glow Kings are pretty frickin' spiffy.
I've Just Seen A Face, now POST!
Posted by: jonmc on January 29, 2003 01:15 PMTJ, hats off to you, great job.
I notice that the different shirt styles are made of a different material, not sure if that is a factor in all this for everyone.
I just called them. For the cheapest way; shirt, one style & color.
The girl I spoke with said;"going with differnet styles is an extra screen charge( yes does not make sense)"
Then she added if you were to go with one style and have different color shirts you may be looking at more extra charges as an extra screen may be needed if a color on your design does not show up."
Hope these extras will all makes sense. As this may help Tizzie in making ways towards the right direction in doing all of this, thanks Tiz. Excuse me as I faint I'm so dizzie..:P
the extras totally make sense. Marty (MarsCrash)used to be a screenprinter, and we talked a little about it last night.
As far as other taglines for wallpapers...
I'm not gonna do all of them, but I can throw a few more up. I'll go through the taglines and do some up in a little bit.
tj, let me know if I can help in any way (yes, that's right, monkey brothas, I use my graphic design skillz for the good of the hood, yo.)
Posted by: whatnot on January 29, 2003 02:26 PMThe more colors you use the more expensive it is. But you knew that. Probably the best thing is to have a simple line design-heck, throw in one more color. If we were gonna do a huge run it would be cheaper, but then the idea is to be exclusive, right?
Not that my opinion counts since I won't be wearing anything with a cigarette and a martini. But I would (metaphorically of course) KILL for the above Bunny logo on a tshirt. *sigh*
Posted by: b****fire on January 29, 2003 02:31 PMwell, b-fire, I CAN get that logo on a t-shirt for you, AND I do have a few people I need out of the picture.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 02:33 PMThanks to the title of this thread, I have a song from Grease 2 running through my head:
Let's bowl
Let's bowl
Let's rock-n-roll!
Which then of course morphs into Michelle Pfeiffer singing "Cool Rider."
So, whatever happened to Maxwell Caulfield, anyway? Oh, I see, a string of bad movies.
Posted by: witchstone on January 29, 2003 02:38 PMC'mon he was superb as Rafe opposite Bobcat Goldthwait in Strip Mall
Posted by: Unclefes on January 29, 2003 02:47 PMAnything called a "Loungemaster" has to be good, don't it? I would go for any style, as long as it's not pink or purple. I think you all can get behind that sentiment.
Posted by: readymade on January 29, 2003 02:54 PMAnything called a "Loungemaster" has to be good, don't it? I would go for any style, as long as it's not pink or purple. I think you all can get behind that sentiment.
Posted by: readymade on January 29, 2003 02:55 PMPshaw, everyone knows that the title to this thread is a quote from that cinematic masterwork, The Big Lebowski.
Posted by: tizzie on January 29, 2003 02:56 PMThe longer i consider it, the more i think that the Loungemaster in black and gold (as pictured on the rather happy looking team at the top of the page) is the ticket. The gold is kinda sorta yellow, which is the color of bananas, which are the favorite of monkeys.
When they aren't having martinis, of course.
Posted by: tizzie on January 29, 2003 03:03 PMAnd they would go nicely with the color scheme of Crash's butt.
Posted by: tizzie on January 29, 2003 03:05 PMtizzie, by gum, I think you are CORRECT! We have to look like bananas and drink like fish! Or at least look like bananas.
I vote for the very pleasing goldenrod/ebony color scheme.
Posted by: readymade on January 29, 2003 03:28 PMeh, I was shying away from the balck shirts because they almost guarantee an extra screen to print. (but since we'll have to have white as one of the colors anyway, i guess it just don't matter.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 03:30 PMAnd behold, the color yellow is an abomination in my sight.
Posted by: God on January 29, 2003 03:39 PMMe too.
Personally, I don't really wear colors (with the occasional exception for green or blue). It's pretty much black & white for me.
Posted by: witchstone on January 29, 2003 03:46 PMLet's be truthful. It's pretty much just black. It makes life a lot easier.
Posted by: witchstone on January 29, 2003 03:47 PMGod, you made the color, how can it be abominable? Fickle bastard.
Anyhoo, I'll wear anything, except that nasty pink or purple, so talk amongst yourselves.
Posted by: readymade on January 29, 2003 03:49 PMBunch of no-talent-ass-monkeys.
Dude. Seriously. What the heck are you talking about?
Face first into the clusterfuck.
Fubk me, I'm drubk!

Do you like any of these tags, TJ?
Posted by: Thomcatspike on January 29, 2003 04:05 PMok you bunch of fucking ingrates, there are a whole heap of new wallpapers.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 04:35 PMand about replacing the script typeface. I decided that if I wsa gonna go lounge with the look, I should really go all out.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 04:44 PMAnd when you're wearing the shirt, you should be listening to this.
Posted by: witchstone on January 29, 2003 04:56 PMI'm looking, but I don't see the t-shirts that feature tj's cool new logos.
Posted by: eyeballkid on January 29, 2003 06:26 PMI can get a quote done here in CDN$$ if you want to save some money. I've made shirts on several occasions (as part of my job). How many do you think you'll need? And if it's a low amount, can it not be a digital job as opposed to screenprint? Then 2 or 4 colours is the same price.
Would you like me to make this even more complicated? Cause I can. Seriously.
Posted by: Salmonberry on January 29, 2003 06:30 PMi can do them in my apartment for almost free. but they'll probably come out crooked.
also - if we lived in a dictatorship, and I was the dictator I would have us all in hot pink classic bowlers.
Posted by: goneill on January 29, 2003 06:40 PM"Would you like me to make this even more complicated?"
OK, give me the price, in Canadian dollars, for two-color digital prints; but when you type it, shift your fingers one key to the left on the home row -- and phrase your answer in the form of a question.
ebk: we're not doing cafepress for this. I found a place on line that does bowling shirts with silkscreening (as opposed to the cafepress dye-sub process) and embroidering.
Posted by: tj on January 29, 2003 08:45 PMPaging Mr. Crash Davis, Mr. Crash Davis, please check your e-mail box for an important question.

"Four inches in which direction?"
South-southwest, I think.

Thanks a whole heap for making my point for me (or Matt's for him, I guess) over there, yhbc, with your amusing poem. Real helpful. I wonder why I bother, with the fucking hassles it brings me.

Posted by: ana unagi on January 30, 2003 06:56 AMI had the strangest dream last night. A big hairy chicken was humping my leg.
Whatever can it mean?
Posted by: yhbc on January 30, 2003 07:50 AMSeriously, though - I only threw that "poem" in your thread because of the Masons references that immediately preceded it. What that is, you see, is a parody of the "Stonecutters Song", as it appeared in a Simpsons episode and which was itself a parody of the Masons. That song starts off as follows:
Who controls the British crown?
Who keeps the metric system down?
We do! We do!
Who leaves Atlantis off the maps?
Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We do! We do!
Seeing as how parody is protected speech (back me up on this, anathema), I figured I was within my rights. Sorry if I offended, big guy.
And now, I'm off to work, so you won't hear from me for the rest of the day. Ta!

*starts passing around a bottle*
Posted by: Crash on January 30, 2003 10:03 AMOK, you monkeys, here's the scoop.
In view of the voluptous nature of our monkeys, our best options are:
The Classic Bowler
Black/White
White/Red
The Loungemaster
Black/Gold
Maroon/Black
They won’t be cheap. Use $55 as a guesstimate and you won’t be too unpleasantly surprised. Price depends on the number of shirts ordered, shipping charge, number of colors in the design, etc. I’ll be able to let you know a more exact figure as I get commitments.
Commitment! I’ll need money up-front from everyone who orders, which we can do through Paypal or with checks in the snail-mail. Unless we can arrange for them to ship individually, I’ll have the shirts shipped to me, then I’ll ship to you.
There is an additional charge of $4.95 per word to get your name on your shirt. I’ll need to know exactly what name to use. If you want a Suede Flock Embellishment, lemme know. They are $2.95 each.
So what we need first is a consensus on style and color. Loungemaster in Black/Gold or Maroon/Black, or Classic in Black/White or White/Red - only vote if you're gonna buy!
Shall we say end-of-day Monday for decisions?
w00t! You go, tizzie. I vote for the Maroon and Black loungemaster (although I'm guessing I'm going to be in the minority).
I can PayPal you when ready.
Thanks again for the work!
Posted by: ufez on January 30, 2003 12:16 PMI'm not voting since I can't afford a shirt, but my, my they look good.

Not to mention all those nagging details like rent and sustenance to put in my piehole.
Posted by: jonmc on January 30, 2003 01:14 PMI vote for black/gold loungemaster, but knowing that hep-cat monkeys think yellow is the color of "gauche," I will also vote for any other shirt. Because I'm easy.

Anyway, I vote for the maroon/black Loungemaster as well, but for a reason I don't think anyone has thought of yet - TJ's awesome design wouldn't show up at all on the black/yellow Loungemaster, but it would look great on the maroon/black one.
Tizzie, are you keeping track of these or anything?

Let me get this straight, the grey logo is the logo we are using? I thought we were using the multi-color one @-
We don't hafta use the black and white one. As TJ mentioned, I was a screen printer for awhile. But before that my job title was Screen Master. Sadly, there were no ceremonial robes or cool mystic sayings. All it meant was that I was in charge of the guys who created the screens out of the artwork. So I can do that. If you want me to. 'Kay?
Oh, and Happy Birthday Tizzie! May you age gracefully like a fine wine, and not turn grayer, stinkier and fuzzier like that thing that's been in our refrigerator's vegetable bin for awhile.

Much love on your birthday. Drink a nice wine while you age like one.

here. Thanks.
