1.) ... let's see, her breast was right about here, so I'll say she was 5'3" or so.

2.) I'd like to thank Divine for her, um, divine inspiration and makeup tips.

3.) ... let's see, her breast was right about here, so I'll say she was 5'6" or so.

#1 Mujibur, the camera hog, draws attention away from Sirajul, the clever pickpocket.

#2 Red beans and rice didn't miss her.

#3 Dude, the country was like that when I got here.

#3 - "Geneva Convention? What Geneva convention?"

Posted by: romakimmy on May 9, 2003 01:02 PM

And what's the caption to this?

It might have something to do with my meeting NY monkeys sometime between May 22 and May 28.

That's purely speculative though.

Posted by: readymade on May 9, 2003 01:40 PM

Woo hoo! Readymade is comin' to town!

My sister comes in on the 24th, so something before that would probably be good--which leaves us with the 22nd or the 23rd, depending on when you come in. I'm definitely buying you a drink!

Posted by: witchstone on May 9, 2003 01:43 PM

The 23rd it is! I'll be arriving very late on the evening of the 22nd, so that's probably not a good night. Although it will only be 9:00 pm to me...

I'm staying at the Paramount, reputedly near that Times Square place I've heard so much about. I don't know, I'm just a tourist.

You can write to me at this address if you take out the funny letters. That way I can tell you things like, um, what my name is, and how to reach me, crap like that.

Not that we're strangers or anything. I mean, I know you look fabulous with 80's hair falling out of large vehicles! It's like we're practically related!

Posted by: readymade on May 9, 2003 01:49 PM

If you want a quick cuppa joe or pocky on the 23rd send an email to my work addy. I'm usually in the city till about 6:30 and my lunch is at 1.

Posted by: jonmc on May 9, 2003 02:08 PM

Do not follow jonmc down the path of curdled colons! That way ends only in misery.

Posted by: witchstone on May 9, 2003 02:10 PM

What a cool photoshoppin' mama our Readymade is!

Posted by: tizzie on May 9, 2003 02:36 PM

Sirajul, the clever pickpocket

Heaving with laughter!

Posted by: Miguel on May 9, 2003 02:43 PM

Readymade on the 23rd, eyeballkid a couple of weeks later. I need to get to New York!

Posted by: jpoulos on May 9, 2003 03:33 PM

What we need is just a big monkey convention. If the frappin' trekkies can do it, than we sure as hell can. So what should we rent out, Madison Square Garden or Shea Stadium?

Posted by: jonmc on May 9, 2003 03:40 PM

Yay! Let's have a big monkey gettogether. But make sure it's at a locale between my job and the train--if I wander too far out of range, my ankle bracelet sends a signal to my PO.

Posted by: cowboy_sally on May 9, 2003 03:50 PM

OK, it's settled then. We'll meet in a scrap metal yard in Bayonne.

Posted by: jonmc on May 9, 2003 03:53 PM

I'm allergic to scrap metal.

Posted by: ColdChef on May 9, 2003 03:56 PM

jon, ya bacciagaloup! Don't be telling everyone where I work. They'll all be showing up, asking for the special monkey discount on scrap metal!

Posted by: cowboy_sally on May 9, 2003 04:10 PM

Lest anyone get the wrong idea from the photo above, I'm five feet nothin'. Just so you know not to look for a giantess wandering the Avenues.

Anyone who wants to get together with my ass (and other parts of me as well), we could try to plan for the evening of the 23rd. I know nothing about NY except what I see on television, so you guys may have to pick out eateries. Or cocktailarias. Or what-have-you.

And Lupo, you would make all my dreams come true if you were in town.

Posted by: readymade on May 9, 2003 04:12 PM

And server, you would make all my dreams come true if you would POST!

Posted by: readymade on May 9, 2003 04:14 PM

Ach, yes I am quite the bigliacco as my nonna would put it. But still, Monkeys With Scrap Metal would be a great name for a hardcore band.

Posted by: jonmc on May 9, 2003 09:31 PM

Yeah, that'd be awesome. Awesome! !Viva Los Scrap Monkeys!

(And actually, the Empire State Building is only three and a half feet tall. There's just a local bylaw that it has to be shot from flattering angles.)

Posted by: Chico on May 12, 2003 12:35 PM

That's interesting, Chico.

Similarly, the HOLLYWOOD sign you hear so much about is actually made out of Alpha Bits.

Posted by: kaf on May 12, 2003 12:55 PM

Yeah, I heard that someplace.

HOLLYWOOD: with eggs, pancakes, sausage, vitamins, scotch, glue, juice, toast and spread, it's part of this nutritious breakfast!

Posted by: Chico on May 12, 2003 01:18 PM

You forgot silicone and collagen.

Posted by: ufez on May 12, 2003 01:20 PM

I always thought of silicone as more of a lunchy thing, and collagen is the perfect nightcap. But in the morning? Color me skeptical.

Now, Botox and fat suits and pounds of cosmetics, arm-candy Shih-Tzus and dental prosthetics, morning concealers for wrinkles and rings? These are a few of my favorite things.

Sorry.

Posted by: Chico on May 12, 2003 01:31 PM

When my brother Walt was a little kid, he always called Alpha Bits "Alpha Particles."

I have no idea what the significance of that might be.

My dad once lowered Walt by his ankles into a large HVAC vent to retrieve a chunk of limburger cheese. But that's a whole other story.

Posted by: tizzie on May 12, 2003 01:34 PM

Did anybody else like to spell out dirty words with their alpha-bits or was that just me? The possibilities are beguiling.

Posted by: jonmc on May 12, 2003 01:50 PM

Yup, me too. But I wasn't allowed to have Alpha-Bits until college, so the effect wasn't nearly as shocking.

23rd sounds good to me. Let me know what y'all decide, and I'll tag along.

Sally, your comment made me think of the movie "Cherish" -- I'm picturing you rollerskating around your oh-so-hip loft and trying to keep from setting off the ankle bracelet.

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
