People have said these things about that :

A quick check of the db reveals that the only disks still in play are mine, aine42's, vidiot's and the Commish's. Can anyone confirm or deny on these?

Just for discussion: What are you listening to now? (me: Cyrano's mix, Oakenfold trance stuff, Ibiza mixes and various things from Swordfish and Blade II soundtracks). What's the coolest new thing you've been turned on to? (me: Melody Guy) Are you waiting for Orrin Hatch to destroy your computer? (me: fat chance scumbag, and I back up my C every two weeks anyway, I'll lose nothing) And do you think it's vaguely prurient for a man over 30 to listen to the Donnas? (me: yes, but what do you expect from me? I'm only a simple man, with simple, easy to trigger biological hot-buttons).

Fall Swap just before Thanksgiving?

I'm not sure what you mean, but I received the Commish's tasty disc, and have not received eyeballkid or vidiot's yet. I sure that they're on the way!

Posted by: tizzie on July 30, 2003 10:58 AM

My experience with the Postal Service has brought me to Dntel (survey says: meh...) and Figurines (much better).

Posted by: jpoulos on July 30, 2003 11:01 AM

Yeah. Mine went out Monday tizze. Keep and eye out for it. I didn't mail it. I threw it really really hard.

Posted by: eyeballkid on July 30, 2003 11:02 AM

Updating the database as we speak, thanks Tiz.

My slightly country-fied, cover-heavy, no indie cred whatsoever playlist w/liner notes:

1) The Evil Powers of Rock N Roll - Supersuckers
Just a good three-chord rocker to start things off with. Worth looking for “Hungover Together” or their cover of “Bloody Mary Morning” (with a guitar solo by Willie!) if you’re one of those amoral, devil worshiping, song downloading types.
2) Dead Flowers - Gilby Clarke w/Axl Rose
A good cover. Plus “Chinese Democracy” is going to suck, but you still gotta have your Axl fix.
3) Needles - Izzy Stradlin
You know why “Chinese Democracy” is going to suck? Because Izzy Stradlin ain’t with GNR, that’s why (ok, that’s far from the only reason, but still…) They were able to coast off the songs he wrote for the “Use Your Illusion” disks, but the end was in sight with that “Where’s Izzy?” shit in the “Don’t Cry” video.
4) Sunset Boulevard - Charlie Robison
Charlie Robison is God. No, really. Well, if you like good country music he is. And maybe even if you don’t. I use Charlie to convert the non-believers. The live version includes a “lost verse” about getting a blowjob from Monica Lewinsky. I’m just sayin’…
5) Angry All The Time - Bruce Robison w/Kelly Willis
Charlie’s brother. This song is a good example of everything that’s wrong with country music, because it kicks the living out of the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill audio assault from a few years back, but because Tim and Faith are prettier you’ve probably only heard their version and hated it.
6) Gin And Juice - Hayseed Dixie
I never knew what the fuck Snoop was talking about until I heard this version.
7) The Ass And The Hole - Mac McAnnally w/Jimmy Buffett
One of my prize finds from back in the Napster days. I didn’t know this song existed until I decided to go looking for Mac McAnnally songs. I defy anyone to keep a frowny face while listening to this tune.
8) Trapped - Bruce Springsteen
Since we’re talking about Napster, this was the first song I went after when I first installed it (the second song was “Hot Love” by Twisted Sister, which only stayed off this mix only because of the sorry sound quality of the MP3.) I first heard this song when I saw some championship ice skating dude who looked like Peter Horton from “Thirtysomething” use it in his routine back in college. Please don’t ask me why I was watching skating back in college.
9) Tra te e il Mare - Laura Pausini
I’m not sure how I heard of this lady, and I have no idea what she’s singing about (and I don’t really want to know, because for all I know it could be something like “Baby, my period just started…” and that sure would ruin things.) At any rate, she sounds real pretty singing about whatever-the-hell it is she’s singing about.
10) The Great Pretender - Freddie Mercury
Remember that big Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium in the early 90’s? They used this song during one of the lead-ins from a commercial and I loved it, but it took me forever to find it because I kept looking for it on Queen albums instead of Freddie’s solo stuff.
11) Wasting Time - Kid Rock
For me, Kid Rock is to music what Jim Carey is to movies: a guilty pleasure that I really can’t explain in light of my usual tastes. I like my rock stars to act like they’re enjoying being rock stars. Maybe that’s it.
12) Take This Job And Shove It - Canibus w/Biz Marki
From the closing credits of “Office Space.” Everyone should have this song, and now you do.
13) Tragically Unhip - Poison
The only good song from their last album before they gave up and hit the 80’s novelty circuit.
14) Girl In The Sweater - Hard Ons
A friend introduced me to this Australian band back in late high school. This song always makes me think of the girls I had crushes on back then, and I like that about it.
15) Tropic of Capricorn - Sammy Hagar
If I’m not the world’s biggest Sammy Hagar fan, I’m at least in the top three. I’m unashamed of this. Not only do I like my rock stars to look like they’re having fun, I don’t want them to try to make me thing too hard (Rush sucks!)

Posted by: Cyrano on July 30, 2003 11:05 AM

"think to hard" on that last one.

Posted by: Cyrano on July 30, 2003 11:07 AM

Everyone's mixes sound lovely: I am blue with envy.

Just for discussion: What are you listening to now?
Thicke's "Beautiful World" (blue-eyed soul that can't be beat!); Four Tet - "Rounds" (trumps Amon Tobin and Boards of Canada in one fell swoop!); Okkervil River - "Down the River of Golden Dreams" (the finest, shiningest band in America).

What's the coolest new thing you've been turned on to?
The coolest new think is The Clientele, a band from London that spins these beautiful guitar hazes, with murmured vocals that make any melancholy 80s child swoon. The coolest new old thing is Leonard Cohen. Long derided by yours-truly, it seems that his old stuff was genuinely good! Boy is my face read.

Are you waiting for Orrin Hatch to destroy your computer?
Don't wait: start now!

And do you think it's vaguely prurient for a man over 30 to listen to the Donnas?
Yes. Go get some T.A.T.U., better.

Posted by: Marquis on July 30, 2003 11:22 AM

Due to circumstances beyond my control, my mixes are going to be late. But they will be going out once we get to New York, which'll be tommorrow.

Must continue cramming entire house into two small boxes now...

Posted by: jonmc on July 30, 2003 11:24 AM

Getting some airtime lately:
The Sea and Cake - I can't stop listening to these guys. Makes me want to be sipping a cocktail in an outdoor bar.
The Creatures - Anima Animus
Spoon - Some bootleg I picked up somewhere. It's good and stuff.
Marc Ribot y los Cubanos Postizos
REM - 20 Years Anthology
Swans - Swans Are Dead - I pull this one out every now and then when I just want something really overpowering.
Tindersticks - Waiting for the Moon - Seeing them August 12...can't wait.

As far as new things, nothing really. Though I did start listening to Big Black recently, as far as old being new again.

Posted by: kafbraaaaaaaaaaains on July 30, 2003 11:33 AM

Kelly Willis' voice will slide over you like molasses. In the good way.

Posted by: witchstone on July 30, 2003 11:33 AM

Jon, did my disc ever get through?

Posted by: kafbraaaaaaaaaaains on July 30, 2003 11:34 AM

What are you listening to now?

A lotta stuff on my mix . . . Q And Not U's Different Damage, always Gang of Fours' Entertainment! , Jim O'Rourke's Insignificance, also Jeru tha Damaja's Wrath of the Math and my own band's new set, over and over and over, as we finish vocals and move toward mixing.

And do you think it's vaguely prurient for a man over 30 to listen to the Donnas?

Vaguely, but not so much as 5 years ago when I saw them at the Boro in Murfreesboro, pre-MTV. 40 middle-aged men watching "teenage" girls playing Kiss knockoffs made me feel soooo dirty.

Posted by: mikro on July 30, 2003 11:43 AM

My car hates your mix, mikro, and can't seem to play it. Seems to work OK at home though.

Posted by: kafbraaaaaaaaaaains on July 30, 2003 11:51 AM

I've been spinning Different Damage lately too, Mikro. They're coming on tour with Black Eyes this Fall. Should be a good show.

other than that, nothing much in the way of teh new. I've been listening to lots of Drums & Tuba (they're most recent album is even called "Mostly Ape" and has a monkey on the back). I went to a great psychobilly show on Saturday night. Nobody does psychobilly like Texas. It's one of the few assets of the state.

Posted by: ufez on July 30, 2003 12:01 PM

Due to circumstances entirely within my control, such as me being a lame-o, my mixes have not gone out yet. Hopefully will send them out soon, but I would like to warn you that I'm in the midst of an acute bout with Advanced Vacation-Induced Lethargy and can barely be bothered to stumble postofficeward.

My track list:

1. Madder Rose - Swim
2. Deltron 3030 - 3030
3. Deltron 3030 - Mastermind
4. Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Ain't No Sunshine
5. Buddy Guy - Fever
6. Willie Eason - Franklin D. Roosevelt, A Poor Man's Friend
7. Tony Hightower - A Single Angry Word
8. Ken Nordine - Faces in the Jazzmatazz
9. Evolution Control Committee - Rebel Without A Pause (Whipped Cream Mix)
10. Negativland - U2
11. Beta Band - Life
12. Alejandro Escovedo - Castanets
13. Superchunk - Detroit Has A Skyline
14. Tuscadero - Tickled Pink
15. Connells - Stone Cold Yesterday
16. Tift Merritt - Virginia, No One Can Warn You
17. Elvis Costello - You Tripped At Every Step
18. Aimee Mann - Jacob Marley's Chain
19. Man Or Astro-Man? - Anoxia

Liner notes are here. (And let me know if you want a copy.)

I've been listening to the Commish's mix and it's GREAT. I love the Cramps track best of all.

Posted by: Vidiot on July 30, 2003 12:21 PM

Plus I've been listening to a lot of Otis Rush for some reason lately. He kicks ass.

And the Fountains of Wayne are on Letterman tonight, which makes me happy.

Posted by: Vidiot on July 30, 2003 12:22 PM

Yes it did, kaf, a couple days ago. We don't actually move until tommorrow morning.

Posted by: jonmc on July 30, 2003 12:31 PM

OK. I will take your silence on any aspect of the disc as a stunned appreciation of the tracks contained therein.

Posted by: kafbraaaaaaaaaaains on July 30, 2003 12:35 PM

I think the lead monkey in the picture at the top of this thread is trying to speak to me!

You see that too, don't you? Don't you?

Posted by: tizzie on July 30, 2003 12:41 PM

I've been listening to kaf's and mikro's discs and I really like them both.

Mine went out yesterday (save to jonmc - I need the NYC address) so hopefully the bastards at the border won't keep them too long and you'll get them soon!

Fellow Eli Wallachs, I'm a bad, bad monkey. I still have disks to burn. They'll definitely be out this week, though, busy schedule or no busy schedule.

To make up for it, you each get a trinket or two, though. I always reward patience.

Posted by: aine42 on July 30, 2003 03:20 PM

My car hates your mix, mikro, and can't seem to play it. Seems to work OK at home though.

Yeah, I used Sklero's burner, and some things have been coming out glitchy.

They're coming on tour with Black Eyes this Fall.

Their coming to Murfreesboro, too. Should be good rockin'.

You see that too, don't you? Don't you?

If it's a bonobo, he probably wants to make sweet love to you.

Posted by: mikro on July 30, 2003 03:54 PM

Okkerville River -- the finest, shiningest band in America.

Cool! My friend Jonathan's in that band. They're lots of fun.

Posted by: Vidiot on July 30, 2003 04:24 PM

Posted by: Marquis on July 30, 2003 04:58 PM

What are you listening to now? Spoon - Kill the Moonlight, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers - Real to Real, The Books - Thought for Food

What's the coolest new thing you've been turned on to? Minikon and Frou Frou

Are you waiting for Orrin Hatch to destroy your computer? Yes. I need an excuse to cause him great bodily harm.

And do you think it's vaguely prurient for a man over 30 to listen to the Donnas? Dude. Buy a that dog record.

Posted by: eyeballkid on July 30, 2003 06:11 PM

And do you think it's vaguely prurient for a man over 30 to listen to the Donnas?
I'm in my mid-30's, heard them first on Rodney on the Roq a good 12 years ago. But hear them now and think, um no officer I like my woman at a concert over 21. Wished I had gone to the after broadcast parties Rodney had every Sunday as they would hang with him.

Posted by: Thomcatspike on July 30, 2003 06:56 PM

Okay, I've now received two good reviews of my CD cover as well as two good reviews of the song list itself, so I'll post both (the cover does look better in person, imo):

1 The Cramps - Route 66
2 Modern Lovers - Roadrunner
3 Pearl Harbor & the Explosions - Drivin'
4 Dead Milkmen - Bitchin' Camaro
5 War - Low Rider
6 Primus - Jerry Was a Race Car Driver
7 Tom Cockran - Life Is a Highway
8 Prince - Dirty Mind
9 Stray Cats - Look at that Cadillac
10 Devo - Speed Racer
11 The Bobs - Slow Down Krishna
12 Cake - (Going the) Distance
13 Iggy Pop - The Passenger
14 B-52's - Dirty Back Road
15 Buffalo Tom - Taillights Fade
16 The Pretenders - Thumbelina
17 Herb Alpert - Tijuana Taxi

Yeah, it's a "car" cd - there's probably plenty of things you'd expect to find on there, but hopefully there's a few surprises as well. I thought it came out pretty good, though, and I would be more than happy to run off extras for anyone with a cd to trade!

And since you ask, I have lately been listening to ColdChef's last swap cd (the blues one) and to eyeballkid's last one as well, and looking forward to the next one!

Calexico's latest cd "Feast of Wire" has been getting lots of play around our house, too.

Posted by: yhbc on July 30, 2003 09:08 PM

and a song from feast of wire (black heart) appears on the disc that is winging its way to you right now.

Posted by: eyeballkid on July 31, 2003 01:54 PM

salmonberry, I sent mine to you this morning. The difference between "get there in a couple days" and "get there by mule train" was almost $15, so I'm sure it will be in Vancouver sometime around the autumnal equinox.

Posted by: tizzie on July 31, 2003 02:02 PM

I like "Feast of Wire" a lot, but "Spoke" has always been my favorite. I'll say one thing for them boys, they were good even on the Downtown Disney House of Blues balcony (non-)stage.

Posted by: They Call Me MISTER Kaf on July 31, 2003 04:29 PM

For some reason, "Feast of Wire" keeps popping into my head as "Streets of Fire" which in turn makes "Tonight is What it Means to Be Young" by Fire, Inc. show up with some bags for the night, only to be cut off by "The Warrior" by Scandal somewhere in the middle because for some reason those songs always morph together in my head.

Posted by: witchstone on July 31, 2003 04:46 PM

As I said earlier, I'm still burnin' on the CDs, but here's a tracklist to keep you occupied until them:

1. Lisa's Got Hives - Conway
2. Ek Dana - Daler Mendhi
3. Timebomb - Old 97's
4. I Can't Sleep - The La's
5. Denise - Fountains of Wayne
6. Lost Weekend - Lloyd Cole
7. Lukewarm - New End Original
8. Everywhere With Helicopter - Guided By Voices
9. Hallelujah (Club Remix) - Happy Mondays
10. Santa Ana River Delta Blues - Whiskey Biscuit
11. Iodine - Jawbox
12. Ghost - Neutral Milk Hotel
13. The Wreck of the Barbie Ferrari - John Hiatt
14. Phil Ochs - Josh Joplin Group
15. Scotch and Soda - Kingston Trio
16. Train Leaving Gray - Mason Jennings
17. Obstacle 1 - Interpol
18. October - Jon Dee Graham
19. Hang On St. Christopher - Tom Waits
20. Tank! - Yoko Kanno

Any requests from folks outside the group -- now's your chance. I can burn them when I do everyone else's.

if you'll forgive the concert update: last night's eels show was fanfuckingtastytastic! mr. e had a completely different persona than last year (last year very introverted, this year very chatty, but always always twisted and funny). three encores! mutual love everywhere. i highly recommend going to an eels show if you can. one of the few bands that can change my favorite songs when doing them live and i like it.

Uh, Cyrano,
the gin'n'juice cover is probably by the Gourds. Don't feel bad, though; I've seen at least ten different bands' names attributed to the song.

Hi, I'm a newbie. I got here from Dong Resin's blog. Pity me.

Posted by: Cyrano on August 4, 2003 11:13 AM

Yes, sir! [snappy salute]

I'm a [checks pants] he.

I'm a bit confused on one other thing...did 9622 have its own swap?

As for the Gourds song, putting that song on during a party is like a beer ad - you know, the ones where a sucky party alla sudden becomes a hoppin' event?

Hey, cool, the cootie spray is great for washing off poo! What is it, Simple Green (TM)?

Posted by: notsnot on August 4, 2003 10:34 PM

Actually, notsnot, that's Wintergreen(R). And it's also great for getting red wine stains out of of shag rugs. (Don't ask.)

Simple Green? Simple Green is people.

Posted by: Chico on August 5, 2003 12:40 AM

wintergreen cootie spray? y'all have it nice. In my day, we had cootie spray that was mostly DDT.

In other news, my monitor is flashing greenish right now. I don't think that's a good sign.

Posted by: notsnot on August 5, 2003 01:13 AM

WoooHOOO, I am listening to a very tasty Salmonberry CD with my spinach and feta pita pocket here. (EEeek, Lunchfilter!) Shock the monkey!

And I've got the Festerminator up next. My afternoon sounds good, real good.

Posted by: tizzie on August 5, 2003 12:43 PM

How'd you like it?

OK, we're at deadline+7, time to wrap up the summer swap - has everyone received disks from everyone in their group?? So far as I can tell, aine42's are the only disks outstanding, and they are in transit, right? RIGHT??

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who participated. Lotta good music bandied around this time, to judge by the CDs I got and the playlists that were posted. I further propose that the Autumn Swap go down just before Thanksgiving, so we all have fresh noise for the holiday - say, masters on the 7th, disks out by the 21th of November?

Posted by: Fes on August 6, 2003 10:55 AM

Me too, they are coming as soon as i finish unpacking. They'll be worth it, ask vidiot. I'll even do a bonus disc if that'll make up for it.

Posted by: jonmc on August 6, 2003 11:31 AM

So this apathy, this tardiness, this inability to keep to a schedule is a localized New Yorker phenomenon? Listen, all that culture is destroying your sense of time! Move to Southern California, where we don't have anything even remotely resembling culture to distract you.

Posted by: kaf and the awful green things from outer space on August 6, 2003 11:35 AM

Done!

Posted by: witchstone on August 6, 2003 11:43 AM

Not depressing?? Nary a Katrina and the Waves song on the WHOLE THING! It's not bad, not bad at all, but if I was the chemically-imbalanced type, rather than the jovial rebecca-of-sunnybrook-farm type, I might have to double up on my Paxil listening to this disk. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on The Teardrop Explodes, they're semi-peppy. The Magazine song is almost even... cheerful?

My dear Fes, I have a definite favorite "side" to your cd. I was listening along, kinda going ok, ok, and then, the "summer" cuts! Ahhhhhhh. Like a crisp mint julep, that Robert Cray - and the rest went down just as smooth. Nice.

Posted by: tizzie on August 6, 2003 12:44 PM

Happy Hiroshima Day, everybody! And Witchy...when you get your sexy self over here to this coast, I'm sure I'll know by the certain "vavavoom" that will be in the air.

Or, you could tell us when you get here so we can throw the Grand Floral Parade.

Hey, Fes. Sorry for the delay in weighing in. Yes, my CDs are in transit. I handed them over to the nice postal clerk earlier this week.

As promised earlier, there are small trinkets in with the CD to make up for the tardiness.

Posted by: aine42 on August 6, 2003 03:01 PM

What about baubles, anyone in my group send out baubles?

Posted by: salmonberry on August 6, 2003 03:55 PM

aine42: got it today! Thanks. So far, very cool (and quite peppy, I might add [meaningful glance at Kaf]) and thanks for the trinkets! I've already had one person swipe a monkey sticker. Rapacious bastards.

I do hate to see a wistful girl. Salmonberry, expect a package.

Now, then, Vidiot and jonmc...

Posted by: Fes on August 7, 2003 09:48 AM

Tiz: Yeah, sorry, that CD is funny that way. I usually try to build them as sort of a sine wave (your amplitude may vary), but this one is more like a collection of discrete cubes of different sizes lined up next to each other. I'm glad you liked the latter half, though :)

Posted by: Fes on August 7, 2003 09:54 AM

I'm almost through with your disc, Fes.

I like the toetapping tunes, but there is this Don Henley sort of edge creeping through on some of the tracks that's giving me the willies. Maybe just too guitary for me?

But I will say that there's nothing fake about the music on the disc, and that's all I ever ask.

Of course, no offense meant. We're all different and unique in a special and legally binding way.

Except Jpoulos.

Curse you, Kafkaesque, you cunning bastard!

Don Henley? *shudders* He has very little heart, and no detectable soul. And I know your feelings on the Eagles...

I do like a good kerrang, more than most, I'll concede that. I was going for more a ragtop appeal - wry, leering, a little gone to seed, sunglass-wearing, but with a touch of sublimated melancholy. Summer always ends, you know. For every June? A first of October; for every dogwood bloom, an oak leaf gone rusting on the ground. But it is a spotty CD, I'll be the first to admit.

And of course, no offense taken. You and I are more different than most, aurally-speaking. Doesn't keep me from awaiting your disks with anticipation.

I don't mean to intrude with a dose of reality, but Don Henley is a drummer.

Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 03:04 PM

We knew that!

Posted by: Fes on August 7, 2003 03:29 PM

Secretly, kafka loves the Eagles. He has old 8-tracks of "The Long Run" and "Hotel California" stashed in a closet.

shhhhhh

Posted by: eyeballkid on August 7, 2003 03:37 PM

Rumor has it that he has been wandering aimlessly about, humming something that sounds suspiciously like "Witchy Woman."

And now, Witchstone moves to California. Coincidence??

I think not.

Jim never whistles the Eagles at home.

Posted by: Folgers Woman on August 7, 2003 03:55 PM

I've had a rough night, and I hate the fucking Eagles, man--

Posted by: notsnot on August 7, 2003 05:42 PM

I am truly saddened to hear that my esteemed colleague known the function of one, indeed any, of the Eagles.

Posted by: kafka, the color out of space on August 7, 2003 05:45 PM

I'm actually kind of frightened by it.

And boys, I am still listening through your cds. I haven't had much time lately to just sit down and give 'em a good play through, but I'm liking what I hear so far. (Also, thanks for the pen, Fes. It's got a perfect weight to it.)

Posted by: aine42 on August 7, 2003 06:30 PM

Gorsh. A guy's goes outta pocket for a week and misses all kinds of stuff.

The Fesmeister General's CD (with pen) was waiting when I got back, though. It shall get a good listen tomorrow at the workplace.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've been up for 36 hours and still can't sleep so I'm going to go drink vodka 'till I fall over.

Posted by: Cyrano on August 7, 2003 07:18 PM

Oooh Fes! A "package" will be sent to me. I feel all tingly.

Those who send stuff shall get stuff in return. I know how to crochet, perhaps a nice doily?

Posted by: salmonberry on August 7, 2003 11:00 PM

I got coffee tables that are SCREAMING for doilies, doll. I will be significantly in your debt.

Posted by: Fes on August 8, 2003 12:24 AM

I'm still open for CD requests. Most will be honored. Some will be scorned openly and derisively.

Did you know that Don Henley was once an exterminator?

Posted by: witchstone on August 8, 2003 09:48 AM

Did you know that Don Henley was once arrested for slapping Carly Simon?

Posted by: witchstone on August 8, 2003 09:49 AM

Did you know that Don Henley is a vegetarian?

Posted by: witchstone on August 8, 2003 09:51 AM

Did you know that none of the three previous comments, to the best of my knowledge, are true?

Posted by: witchstone on August 8, 2003 09:52 AM

Sign me up for a Fall Swap, yo. I feel a little more confidant after my first swap, so expect to have the doors blown off your shit.

Oh, and, I'm sure that everyone that got my disc is in love with the Carter Administration by now, so if you'd like to hear more, let me know.

Posted by: mikro on August 8, 2003 09:56 AM

I had hopeful thoughts about the Carly Simon one. Don Henley seems like just exactly that sort of prick.

Posted by: Fes on August 8, 2003 11:21 AM

Don Henley also is suspected in a series of dramatic laundromat robberies in the midwest.

Posted by: kaf on August 8, 2003 11:23 AM

For a brief cruel moment, I misread "laundromats" as "bagel shops" and I almost expired with fear for Julio's welfare. After all, if the incident with the pigeons was almost enough to send him over the edge, I cannot begin to imagine what something as traumatizing as a robbery would do.

Why not join in and say something too?
