"What's this?" you are all saying to yourselves. "Why Robbie? Why here? Why now?"
(more inside)
Posted by witchstone at August 07, 2003 03:48 PMWell, my friends, I'm here as a living, breathing lesson. Perhaps, like me, you are spending too much time on the internet. You're spending so much time that you know things, like the fact that Robbie Williams and Rachel Hunter are dating. You don't want to know that particular information, but there it is. And then one night you will have a dream that you & Robbie begin an email relationship which culminates in him coming to visit you and you noticing that he has bad skin. And you will be so flustered that you forget to ask him why he has ROBBIE tattooed on his own arm--is it for his own sake or for that of the girl who has woken up next to him after a night of drunken revelry, racking her brain trying to remember what the fuck this guy's name is? I know because it happened to me last night. The dream, not the racking of the brain.
But worst of all, after this dream you find that suddenly there is a soft spot in your heart for Robbie Williams, British Pop Sensation. I know it will fade because I had that Ben Affleck dream once and it took me a few weeks, but I got over it. *shudder*
Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 03:49 PMActually, I can relate. I once dreamed I had phone sex with Nell Carter.
Posted by: jpoulos on August 7, 2003 03:56 PMThe heart wants what it wants, Witchy. Make no apologies.
*holds out handkerchief*
Posted by: Fes on August 7, 2003 04:00 PMMaybe your dream means something, moving to Cali aint ya...so maybe your to get a tatoo so you'll know whom you are when you awake in SD.
Posted by: Thomcatspike on August 7, 2003 04:01 PMFor those of you who don't know who Robbie Williams is, he used to belong to a British boy band called Take That that was the biggest seller in the UK since The Beatles. He was the 'bad boy' of the group and eventually stuck out on his own. He is HUGE in Europe, but hardly anyone knows who he is here. Last year he signed some astronomical deal with his label.
See? Why do I know these things?
*slaps self*
Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 04:16 PM He is HUGE in Europe,
Thought guy's shrinkage was due to the cold, Not America.
Well, it's because of the conversion from metric to imperial measurements, really.
Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 04:31 PMSo is this the official "Why hath Witchstone foresaken us" thread? Because I was looking around for a fine witchy pic to start her farewell thread, but only came up with a painting of the Salem witch trials and one pathetic photo of a witch who looked like she wanted nothing to do with Halloween, children or living in general.
So I guess I'm asking, when do we have to snap the handcuffs on you as you try to extricate yourself from our world? Tomorrow?
Posted by: readymade on August 7, 2003 04:44 PMYes, tomorrow is my last day at the boring day job. Once I get settled in SD, I'll have a computer, but won't be home very much. And it's going to be dial-up, baby.
Of course, the main reason I'm moving is I felt the west coast MeFi & 9622 members needed me so they could start having kick ass meetups! The grad school is only secondary.
Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 04:49 PMLet me be the first then, to say: we'll miss you.
Tis the witching hour of night,
Orbed is the moon and bright,
And the stars they glisten, glisten,
Seeming with bright eyes to listen
For what listen they?
Keats :) Listening for the keyboard-click of your return, I think, dial-up or no. Good luck, do well, and be careful on the drive, Witchstone.

Are you driving through or flying over Dallas?
I expect lots of amusing activity tomorrow, in honor of my last day.
Posted by: witchstone on August 7, 2003 05:26 PM"He's pulled out the Keats!"
Last time I did that I got a warning from a policeman.

Just 'cause she dance the go-go
It don't make her a ho, no
It thought it was
Just 'cause she workin' pro bono
It don't make her Yoko Ono
You know, your version makes more sense.
Posted by: Chico on August 8, 2003 11:42 AMAre you driving through or flying over Dallas? Duh, boy was I numbed while writing this(my dental work); Drove to NY from Ca went above Tx through Ok; on the return stayed North then came South through ID so yes you will be flying over in a car. But let me tell you bout them drugs yesterday; they’re great for looking like Lurch & grinding your teeth.
Posted by: Thomcatspike on August 8, 2003 11:59 AMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
