I've upgraded the site to MT 2.64
Also, I DO plan to attend the meetup in Boston tomorrow, so I encourage anyone who's in the area to show up. Details here. Posted by jpoulos at November 21, 2003 10:38 AM
We're experiencing a minor technical difficulty when you start a new thread. The line-breaks don't show up. I'm working on it right now.
Posted by: jpoulos on November 21, 2003 11:34 AMI'm thankful every day that we have one admin who has any idea at all what he's doing.
Good on you, Lupo.
Posted by: kaf on November 21, 2003 11:38 AMHave some beans and chowdah for me, lupo. I'll be spending tonight at a mental hospital (long story, not worth it). Say hi to the Bostonians from the MC, and give the monkeys some shout-outs.
Posted by: jonmc on November 21, 2003 11:38 AMAs you can see, even the comments are being affected. Until I can get this fixed, I recommend putting <p></p> tags around your comments.
Posted by: jpoulos on November 21, 2003 12:08 PMThere is nothing quite like the honor of having your name writ upon a napkin.
Posted by: kaf on November 21, 2003 01:31 PMHey, kafster, as I recall your name was on a napkin held by quite the hottie...
Posted by: jonmc on November 21, 2003 02:02 PMGreat news, Lupo! Thanks for the time and effort you put in, old friends. God be willing someday I'll be able to buy you the thousand or so drinks my mental barman has notched up for ya! :)
Posted by: Miguel on November 21, 2003 03:11 PMSee how nicely my comment turned up, Jon, ColdChef and Kaf, you losers!
Posted by: Miguel on November 21, 2003 03:13 PMI, too, would like to drink to Lupo. I would like to drink to him in Boston tomorrow night!
I shoulda had a trust fund. Lack of providing this on my parents part has made for years of frustration on my part.
I hope y'all have a fabulous time!
Posted by: tizzie on November 21, 2003 03:22 PM
I think I might just show up.
Note to Lupo: The side-scrolling site has at least one drawback. I can only read about half of the screen on the hotel's WebTV thingy. No horizontal scrolling here. :(

Is this thing on?
I'll be there, too. See you tomorrow, lupo, crash and anathema.
...which has made things look a bit more like I intended with the stylesheets (and I have been intending to tweak and fix and stuff for a long, long time, but haven't bcause I'm an easily-distracted and lazy bastard), which is good. On the other hand, there are some things that aren't quite right, and I'm hopin' that someone else (er, tj?) will step up and make the necessary layout tweaks.
Also, I won't be offended if anyone wants totally revamp the layout....no worries at all, monkey-pals....
Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on November 22, 2003 10:15 AMCommish, we need a recount update!
How could you miss the giant headlines? Good lord, man, don't you have any access to real news? The big recount will not be completed until Monday. Across this great land of ours, fans of democracy are lighting candles and anxiously waiting the outcome. I can only hope to quell the riots that are sure to follow if the results are against me. My minions, they are enthusiastic, but sometines not too bright.
ok, ok stav... I'l spend some time later today or tomorrow to tweak the css.
Posted by: tj on November 22, 2003 03:46 PMand I forgot what layout tweaks we/you/I/the baby jesus wanted, it's been awhile...
there is a bunch of unnecessary code in there which I've been meaning to pare down.
Posted by: tj on November 22, 2003 05:46 PMAhem. A little shameless self-promotion here, but I just had a sculpture commissioned as an illustration for an article in one of our main papers. Whee!
Posted by: Towerbrave/MaggieG on November 22, 2003 05:52 PM9622.net: Easily distracted and lazy bastards.
Actually, screw it, that should be *my* tagline.
Posted by: arto on November 22, 2003 06:15 PMYou promised me line breaks! LINE BREAKS! *shakes fist, foams at mouth*
Posted by: arto on November 22, 2003 06:17 PMWow, towerbrave! I like the way it can stand on its own and serve as a caustic but empathetic comment on the theme of the article. As if a strand of everything ever bought was jumbled and made into a body of its own. Very good - thanks. It simultaneously glorifies and derides shopping and, from a strictly deconstructive viewpoint, it clearly... [add 25,000 words of dubious continental aesthetics here, but you know what I mean].
Posted by: Miguel on November 23, 2003 01:41 AMYup. 'Sreal purty-like.
Actually, do you have any more of your artwork online, towerbrave?
Posted by: arto on November 23, 2003 06:42 AMThis shoutout is a proud moment for me, and I want to thank the members of the academy and Mr. Crash Davis!
9622 totally ruled this meetup. You guys are fabulous!
Posted by: tizzie on November 23, 2003 08:40 AM Gee, thanks folks *sniff*, much appreciated.
No, Arto, I don't have anything else out in the ether, but Chico has been bugging me to set up a website to display my creative stuff. I think I'll put Miguel's analysis on the home page, an' mebbe someon'ill mishteck me fer a real arteest.
Great pics from the meetup, by the way. Looks like a lot of fun.
And Commish: where'd ya get the 9622 button?
Posted by: Vidiot on November 23, 2003 01:23 PMAh, the 9622 buttons. My long-suffering spouse Chris made a batch of them (on wood, with lacquer finish) for the big croquet tournament we had last year, as seen here and in close-up here.
Since anathema was the only monkey who actually showed up to play croquet, I had a few left over that I sent out with some of my cd's - but now they're all gone, and the picture on the button isn't even on the site any more, so the few that exist are not-to-be-repeated, rare, limited-edition collectibles now.
Sorry!
The line breaks and stuff still seem a little off to me - for instance, in Crash's new thread next door, I can't see the comment box.
Just wondering, not complaining!
Posted by: tizzie on November 23, 2003 09:19 PMYup, something's hosed next door.
I'll check to make sure I closed all my tags.
Posted by: Crash on November 23, 2003 09:31 PMAch! I'm givin' 'er all she's goot, Cap'n, but the dilithium crystals kinna hold out much loonga.
(translation: maybe someone should roll back to the prior release, all the tags are fine but the post is still fucked up)
Posted by: Crash on November 23, 2003 10:02 PMI got one of YHBC's 9622 buttons. I keep it pinned to my nipple.
Posted by: ColdChef on November 23, 2003 10:04 PMNow see, there's another reason they were a limited edition; just too many people started hurting themselves. Seems we had neglected to include anything on the back to the effect of "WARNING THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS AN OBJECT KNOWN BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO REALLY REALLY HURT IF YOU POKE IT THROUGH YOUR NIPPLE OR ANY OTHER PART OF YOUR ANATOMY FOR THAT MATTER SO JUST DON'T DO IT OKAY" and really who has the time to go through all of that?
Looks like a good time was had by many! I love Boston, vacationed there once, walked the Walk, beered at the Oyster House, vowed to send my son to Harvard on the steps of the Library, stole a pen.
And thanks for the shoutout!
*buries head in hands*
The fickle finger of fame finds me at last, and it only took seppuku to get it :) For my next trick? Suspending myself for a month in a lucite box over Lupo's house. Love me, Lupo! LOVE ME, ALL OF YOU!
Posted by: Fes on November 23, 2003 11:47 PMYa know, you coulda just shagged Paris Hilton on video.
On second thought, seppuku doesn't sound so bad.
*sacrifices chicken in the vague direction of the post-formatting gods*
Posted by: arto on November 24, 2003 05:53 AMYa know, you coulda just shagged Paris Hilton on video.
*looks up suddenly from struggling against the lowest rightside rib with the wakizashi*
Aw, man, that was an OPTION??
Posted by: Fes on November 24, 2003 09:58 AMWhile you're waiting, may I suggest stepping out for a brisk constitutional?
I got all the way to the 2nd Amendment! No where the hell is my pony?
Posted by: ana on November 24, 2003 03:11 PMYou'd think a law student'd get to the eleventh or twelfth amendments before giving up. At least.
Posted by: Vidiot on November 24, 2003 07:22 PMOh wow, I just discovered something...if I roll my mouse wheel down, it makes the main 9622 page scroll sideways! badass!
(as a matter of fact, I'm sober tonight, why?)
Posted by: notsnot on December 10, 2003 12:50 AMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
