Ummm, Lebowski Fest. Next year, monkeys, we should all go.
Posted by tizzie at June 21, 2004 02:03 PMOooops, lost that post. Anyway!
What were we talking about?
Posted by: tizzie on June 21, 2004 02:05 PMWell I'm pretty sure I was drooling over the heavy lineup of cavortion, hijinks, hoopla and carousal that was your weekend. (That might be what shorted out the site. Sorry.)
Damn, that sounded like fun.
Posted by: Chico on June 21, 2004 02:25 PMChico, are you guys going to the NY fest? Seriously, I would consider coming up for it. It was that much fun. Deliciously silly.
Posted by: tizzie on June 21, 2004 02:46 PMWho is the king dead shitfuck who deleted my comments here?
Posted by: dong resin on June 21, 2004 03:30 PMWe kind of have to, now, don't we?
The posse shall be mobilized. Right, fellas? (Fellas?)
Anyway, should you consider the trip, I have a very large apartment, with lots of room for visiting dignitaries and whatnot. We can hook a sista up, knowmsayin?
Posted by: Chico on June 21, 2004 03:30 PMExcellent!
Ryan, I haven't seen you since two days before the flood, so this'll be excellent.
Posted by: Chico on June 21, 2004 03:53 PMGiven what I've heard about use of the term "large" in describing NYC apartments, I'd strongly suggest getting some more details tizzie. I think the New York folk consider the fire escape part of their square footage.
*patiently waits for this travelling fest to hit Vancouver, even though she knows it's a pipe dream*
Posted by: salmonberry on June 21, 2004 04:50 PMIs someone gonna let me post comments now, dammit?
OK, here's what I would have said earlier:
Tizzie: you need to wear sunscreen!
/mom
Of my own Lebowskiesque experience, I was eating at the local thai place last nite and the guy at the table next to me was like The Dude personified. He looked and talked like him, but really LOUDLY. He was kinda annoying, but I was enjoying overhearing his conversation. he was trying to convince his friends that a day-long excursion to a waterpark would be fun.
When is NYC Lebowskifest again?
Posted by: dana on June 21, 2004 05:13 PMOh, Salmonberry. Sweet, mistrustful child.
I have what amounts to an extra 10' x 15' bedroom with two big windows. It's all yours, babe.
And Lebowskifest NY is August 13-14.
Posted by: Chico on June 21, 2004 05:38 PMAnd my pad isn't as splendiferous and huge as Chico's (the bastard!), but I can sleep an extra person, or two if they're reasonably well-acquainted.
Posted by: Vidiot on June 22, 2004 09:30 AMI checked on airfares last nite. This looks do-able! *crosses fingers*
The Fest tickets go on sale 7/1 ....
Posted by: tizzie on June 22, 2004 10:00 AMGood on you to everyone who gets to do things. I despise you with a hatred that makes my ears glow like the belly of a Care Bear.
Posted by: ufez on June 22, 2004 11:12 AMUfez, brother, if you can find your way northward, there's always room for one more.
Unfortunately, this being New York and all, there's not going to be much to do aside from Saturday Night bowling. They really roll up the streets at sundown. You know.
Posted by: Chico on June 22, 2004 12:11 PMI hear Bloomberg banned bowling. It was a rider on the smoking bill.
Posted by: jpoulos on June 22, 2004 12:35 PMChico, et al:
You'll be seeing more of me after I move (July 1). Just to warn ya.
Posted by: Ryan on June 22, 2004 12:58 PMWhich airport is the easiest - or are they all the same?
Posted by: tizzie on June 22, 2004 01:29 PMLaguardia is easily the closest, though really there's no wrong answer.
This goes for everyone. Even you, Ryan.
(Shut the fuck up, Donnie. No one asked you.)
Posted by: Chico on June 22, 2004 01:53 PMAgreed. LGA is, as Chico said, by far the closest (about a mile from me, a little farther from Chico.) Newark is very convenient to Manhattan, by way of the rail link to Penn Station. Kennedy is also certainly do-able (and very close to the Cozy Bowl, where the Fest will be), but it takes longer to get there from our neighborhood or Manhattan.
Where ya moving to, Ryan?
Posted by: Vidiot on June 22, 2004 02:01 PMI took some plastic monkeys along to Lebowskifest for a shout-out. On the way out I gave them to Will, one of the organizers of the fest.
He sent me an e-mail that said "Those monkeys really tied the fest together." Excellent.
Posted by: tizzie on June 22, 2004 03:52 PMOK, it's official. I'll be there at noon on Thursday the 12th, and stay until Sunday. Airline ticket purchased, vacation request approved.
Big city here I come!
Ummm, does everybody wear shoes there?
Posted by: tizzie on June 24, 2004 03:05 PMAWESOME!
Only Blahniks, dahling. Just like on the teevee.
Actually, walking shoes are all you'll need.
Anyone else? Birthday boy? Anyone?
Posted by: Chico on June 24, 2004 05:38 PMThere's nothing I'd love more than sharing a caucasian with the monkey folk of Gotham, but unfortunately this is the time of year where the Office of Gov't Slack becomes decidedly un-slacky and we're explicitly forbidden from taking time off.
Yeah, it blows.
Posted by: ufez on June 24, 2004 06:21 PMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
