August 26, 2004 : Name that gorilla

Hottt preview of tonight's [quicky] meetup!

Posted by adampsyche at August 26, 2004 12:39 PM

People have said these things about that :

Hmm. Who's who?

Posted by: adam on August 26, 2004 12:43 PM

This one's me. I's in the bathroom when this picture was taken.

Posted by: dana on August 26, 2004 01:00 PM

I never knew you were double jointed.

Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2004 01:10 PM

If only you could still smoke in NY bars...

Sadly, I'll be on the outside looking in. Don't let that discourage you from having fun, though.

Posted by: ufez on August 26, 2004 01:54 PM

Sadly, after work, I have to go get test results from my doctor, so I will be unable to attend. Think of me, perhaps if you belch.

Posted by: jonmc on August 26, 2004 02:05 PM

Those apes look less than gruntled, it seems.

But I know this much is true:

Tonight, at least once, I shall belch and think of you, jon.

And I shall peer through a fence at allegedly greener grass (or barring that, maybe grab a quick toke in an alleyway, we'll see) and think of you, ufez.

And I shall get down on all fours and bark like a lost puppy, and think of you, tizzie. (Amberglow or someone might want to pitch in on this one, depending. Maybe we'll all do it.)

And I shall tie myself into a vague pretzel shape, and think of Dana. (And while there, time and opportunity permitting, I shall choke a president, and think of America.)

Posted by: Chico on August 26, 2004 02:32 PM

Well, I'd like to go, and I normally would and all, but being broke sucks.

Posted by: Ryan on August 26, 2004 02:59 PM

Sounds like a busy night for Chico.

Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2004 03:07 PM

This story lists some of the grooming rituals of the Night Monkey as he gets ready for an evening's activities.

Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2004 03:28 PM

Naw, that should all take about 10 minutes. I won't be there long. (I love that article. It's such a simian version of "The Continental.")

(Note: "Choking the president," by the way, while not a threat of any kind or form, expressed or implied, is not a euphemeism for anything I'll be doing later on. I dont know why you went there. Freaks.)

Posted by: Chico on August 26, 2004 03:39 PM

Chico, "choke the president" is the same thing as "pull the pope" or "punch the clown" or "roundhouse-kick the comptroller." I just looked it up in Strunk and White.

Posted by: dana on August 26, 2004 03:53 PM

Ah, what do those two old farts know about language.

Still, it's better than "Leaving your Sneakers in the Wrestling Ring" or "Dave Matthewsing the Countryside," I guess.

Posted by: Chico on August 26, 2004 04:15 PM

and if I am to get poked and probed by people in white coats wearing rubber gloves out by the projects tonight, I shall think of...

any takers?

Posted by: jonmc on August 26, 2004 04:25 PM

...England?

Posted by: dana on August 26, 2004 04:42 PM

I'll hit the next one. I cite $, being kinda tired, and wanting to hang with the J man a little tonight.

Posted by: adam on August 26, 2004 04:51 PM

I HAVE A YEARNIN TO GET BLOTTO. DRIIIIIBK, WONDERCHICKEN, DRIIIIIIBK!

Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on August 26, 2004 07:27 PM

And I have to clean, pack, throw away stuff, et cetera.

Did I mention that moving sucks?

Especially when you're behind schedule?

And when you have to work your ass off at your day job?

Grrrr.

Posted by: Vidiot on August 26, 2004 07:51 PM

Now, that's the Wonderchicken we know and love.

Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2004 08:45 PM

Well, that was 8 am anticipation and now it's 5 pm anticipation, which is way gooder. Which means the barbaric booze-yawp will sound in truth across the rooftops of the metropolis in approximately 72 minutes.

Hoopla!

Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on August 27, 2004 04:13 AM

Cheers, darlin'!

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 07:56 AM

Moving is the absolute worst thing in the entire world. It just sucks.

Posted by: adam on August 27, 2004 08:39 AM

No, the absolute worst thing in the world is when the IS dept. cuts off your access to your e-mail accounts at work. It makes nine hours of dull duty into nine hours of pissed-off aggravation and revolutionary plots that involve all capitalist oppressors dying grisly painful deaths.

At least in my experience, anyhow.

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 08:48 AM

Jeebus, Vidiot, you too? Please tell me that you don't have to deal with two bumbling Romanian handymen who are slower than molasses in the Antartic also. Otherwise I just might have to kill myself from the combined levels of suckiness.

Actually I just might have to kill myself anyways if fucking apartment doesn't get done in the next week.

Stressed? Me? No. Why do you ask...

Posted by: romakimmy on August 27, 2004 09:10 AM

excuse me, did anyone who attended the MeFi gathering last night return unscathed? where is everyone?

Posted by: dana on August 27, 2004 12:04 PM

HELLO PEOPLE WE WANT PICTURES.

Posted by: adam on August 27, 2004 12:37 PM

They don't have to have captions!

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 12:54 PM

I only took two shots, because there were only six of us and I didn't stay long, and how many shots of amberglow can one fellow have, ferfecksake?

It was a sweet little affair. falconred's in Law school, and seems smart and engaging. We can fix that. Milovoo is fairly good-looking and found everything quite funny.

Lilboo/krimur kind of ran the conversation, being both more gregarious than usual and the only gurl, and muckster bought me a couple of beers in gratitude for I-have-no-fucking-idea.

There was also pizza.

You were missed. Yes, you.

Posted by: Chico on August 27, 2004 01:24 PM

Well, oddly enough, even though my doctor said to come by on thursday for my test results. When I got to the clinic, it was CLOSED.

So I waited around East Hell for 20 minutes for a bus and went home, no healthier than before.

Posted by: jonmc on August 27, 2004 01:41 PM

That's rotten, Jon. Sorry they were typical health care providers.

(oops, we don't have any of those among us, do we?)

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 02:45 PM

Merciful sweet heavens, will this day never end?

Anyone wanna dance or something?

Posted by: ufez on August 27, 2004 05:07 PM

Dance, always, but the "something" offer does sound intriguing.

Posted by: salmonberry on August 27, 2004 05:18 PM

OK, I've already spun around in my chair enough to make myself dizzy (stupid no drinking at work) now what to do to entertain myself for the next 48 minutes?

Posted by: tj on August 27, 2004 05:23 PM

I've always wondered what would happen if someone shot up some white-out. Feel like experimenting, teej?

Posted by: ufez on August 27, 2004 05:33 PM

they took away my sharp objects after "The FedEx Incident"

Posted by: tj on August 27, 2004 05:47 PM

...and I can attest that Mister Swingline is a cruel, cruel master indeed...

Posted by: Vidiot on August 27, 2004 07:01 PM

The human heart knows no limits.

I can tell you that, because these puppies have pissed and shat their way through my garden with a vengeance, eaten my rose bushes and chased my cats over to the neighbors. And I love them, each and every one.

I was standing in front of the stove tonight, cooking eggplant, and they were making a concerted effort to chew through my ankle bones. And I felt nothing but affection, and hesitation that I might tread on one of the little devils.

Of course, you can call me Stumpy now.

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 08:59 PM

Of course, this helps.

Posted by: tizzie on August 27, 2004 09:00 PM

Why am I just finding out they have mountainbiking in the Olympics? Granted, it's more trailriding than anything, but I'm thinking we need to press up some 9622 jerseys and fund ufez/salmonberry 2008. Beijing is ours, dammit!

Posted by: ufez on August 28, 2004 12:43 AM

File under the category of flat-out wrong. Buzzards.

Posted by: tizzie on August 28, 2004 03:36 PM

We'll have monkeys on our jerseys and Nike sponsorships under our helmets!

Posted by: salmonberry on August 28, 2004 04:22 PM
Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
