August 30, 2004 : Vidiot Does the GOP

Hooray for our own Vidiot! He's doing an awesome job photo-blogging the *shudder* GOP.

I'm just a little bit worried - first, about the GOP cooties, and second, that he wants a suit like this.

Posted by tizzie at August 30, 2004 08:45 AM

People have said these things about that :

Hey, at least I know how to score.

Posted by: Vidiot on August 30, 2004 08:51 AM

But thanks!

Posted by: Vidiot on August 30, 2004 08:53 AM

Fantastic stuff, Vidiot. Keep it up!

Posted by: jpoulos on August 30, 2004 09:04 AM

GOP cooties? As I recall, it's the left that has firmly assumed the Party of VD mantle :)

Just leave the poor bastards alone, will you guys? I can't speak on behalf of the entire party, but most of us have pretty much got it that y'all are the teensiest bit disatisfied with the performance of the executive branch. It's not like Bush is suddenly going to spot someone's sign and say to himself "You know, those wacky college kids have a point, I think I might turn this whole Iraq thing on it's head and see what happens..." They're just trying to have their own traditional, wildly wasteful, moronic pep rally only for grownups, and maybe pick up a few hookers.

Oh, and hi. I been busy.

In happier news, I became an uncle yesterday. Welcome to the world, Penelope Jane!

Yes, Penny Jane. My sister is a strange woman. I'm callin' the sprout PJ.

*Looks on approvingly at Vidiot's "If this Buick Park Avenue's Rockin', Don't Come Knockin'" bumper sticker*

Posted by: Fes on August 30, 2004 12:48 PM

Congrats jon! Used to be, I was the only uncle walking there here parts...

*hikes up pants to nipples, muses, naps*

Posted by: Fes on August 30, 2004 12:49 PM

Every day, fewer and fewer of us without the nipple pants.

So sad.

Posted by: Chico on August 30, 2004 12:57 PM

I know this isn't the place for the politics, Fes. The cooties comment, though naughty, was just a wisecrack.

Vidiot's pics are just good journalism, and good on him for getting linked by BoingBoing.

Posted by: tizzie on August 30, 2004 12:58 PM

Congrats, Uncle Jon. No candy for the little one yet, OK?

Posted by: tizzie on August 30, 2004 01:00 PM

I know, Tizzie my dear, I'm just teasing :)

Posted by: Fes on August 30, 2004 01:14 PM

Whenever I see "teasing" and "nipple" in the same thread ... well, it's worse than the cuddly baby animal pictures.

Posted by: tizzie on August 30, 2004 01:16 PM

AWWW! My eyes...that suit, maybe it can help this monkey out.

Posted by: thomcatspike on August 31, 2004 01:23 PM

Someone should send that story to Catherine Zeta-Jones as a cautionary tale.

Posted by: Chico on August 31, 2004 01:57 PM

Vidiot, thanks for sharing your eyes(pictures) with us. Will a NY monkey explain the sign in vidiot’s pic – it’s above the chic standing on the corner…"Don't block box” what does it say after “fine +2”?

Sheesh...most cities scale their looks from 1 to 10

Posted by: thomcatspike on August 31, 2004 02:00 PM

Thomcat, it says "Fine +2 Points."

It means if gridlock blocks your car in the intersection (which of course never happens in Manhattan, because all drivers and pedestrians are orderly and follow traffic laws to the letter), then not only are you on the hook for a fine, but they count demerit points against your driving record.

Six points (I believe) and they take your license away.

Although I somehow failed to notice the "Fine +2 Points" chick on the corner under the sign until you pointed her out.

I'd have given her +1, tops. But then I'm a hard grader. If you know what I mean.

Posted by: Chico on August 31, 2004 02:15 PM

NewYorkers call a street intersection a box?

Posted by: thomcatspike on August 31, 2004 02:36 PM

The "Don't Block the Box" deal was just the dippy name they gave to the campaign. We don't call intersections "boxes."

And if I'd noticed said chick when I was taking the picture, I'd be in the position of being able to e-mail you a hi-res picture of just her.

As it is, I got nothing.

Posted by: Vidiot on August 31, 2004 03:05 PM

Ugh, "don't block the box" sounds as promising as the wonderful "Lock, Take, and Hide" campaign around Dallas that would magically end our six year slide as the most crime-ridden large city in the country. Because, you know, otherwise I'd never think to Lock my car, Take my keys, or Hide my crytsal encrusted crack pipe under the driver's seat.

The Commish probably remembers those earworm-worthy "Don't Lay That Trash on Oklahoma" commercials. Shit, I've got it stuck in my head now.

*sets head on fire, runs around aimlessly*

Posted by: ufez on August 31, 2004 03:26 PM

...for me, the opposite sex's intersection is a box...usually is cock blocked.

Posted by: thomcatspike on August 31, 2004 03:27 PM

Well, with an outlook like that, buckeroo, you won't be gettin' many points in any box, fine or not.

Now go put ufez out before he turns this joint into Tara.

Posted by: Chico on August 31, 2004 03:46 PM

RNC, SCHMRNC.....everyone who is anyone know what the real excitement is right now. I need someone to photoblog that as well. Vidiot, any chance of you managing to do both?

Posted by: salmonberry on August 31, 2004 03:46 PM

chico...just comedy boxing "block".

Posted by: thomcatspike on August 31, 2004 04:22 PM

The flames! The flames!

*gives ufez a swirly*

Whew, that was a close call.

Posted by: tizzie on August 31, 2004 04:25 PM

You could've at least flushed first. Thanks all the same, though.

And sal...I don't get how a tournament with eight teams can be a World Cup. Was there qualifying somewhere? I bet they didn't even give the team frmo Madagascar a chance. Bastids.

Posted by: ufez on August 31, 2004 04:28 PM

w000t! 9622.net: You could've at least flushed first.

Posted by: tizzie on August 31, 2004 04:30 PM

ufez, I think it's a "World Cup" along the lines of baseball's "World Series"...... they can't let Madagascar field a team, can you imagine what those monkeys would be capable of?

*shudders, smiles, considers an all-monkey hockey league*

Posted by: salmonberry on August 31, 2004 07:50 PM

ufez, I have no room left in my head for Oklahoma commercial jingle earworms, because it's all taken up by the B.C. Clark Christmas Song.

You remember, don't you! "Jewelry is the gift to give - 'cause it's the gift that'll live and live! So give the gift you know can't fail! ..."

My work here is done, I think.

And just in case anyone is wondering "I wonder how the Commissioner's fantasy football draft went?", I can report that I did have enough on the ball this year to remember that Seattle has good wide receivers and that I wanted to take one of them. I just forgot to pay enough attention so that I didn't take BOTH of them. Drat. Waiver wire, here I (no doubt) come.

Posted by: yhbc on August 31, 2004 09:23 PM

Dong_resin is like a god to me in so many ways.

Posted by: tizzie on September 1, 2004 08:06 AM

Did you get a copy of the book Tiz? Recall while back dong offering some free ones.

Posted by: thomcatspike on September 1, 2004 02:37 PM

I confess, thomcatspike, that I have not yet gotten the book. But I will, I will!

When DR hears that there was one little old lady who wandered into the Reel Books & Bait Shop in Kentucky and asked for the Tinkerbell Hilton book, he will surely know that it was I.

Posted by: tizzie on September 1, 2004 05:01 PM

Vidiot, Being a people watcher, still enjoying your pictures...keep em coming - thought you might get one with Micheal Moore.

Posted by: thomcatspike on September 2, 2004 06:37 PM

Couldn't manage that, but I did run into him in February.

Posted by: Vidiot on September 3, 2004 12:44 PM
Why not join in and say something too?
