Here's a picture of a lovely tuna fish sandwich:

Here's a picture of Stand By Me and Sliders star Jerry O'Connell:

I think the parallels are rather shocking.
Posted by jpoulos at August 22, 2005 10:05 AMThat tuna sandwich appears to have celery in it. That is just wrong, and detracts from it's loveliness.
Posted by: jonmc on August 22, 2005 10:13 AMJust imagine they're happy little bundles of wasabi. Is that more to your liking?
Posted by: jpoulos on August 22, 2005 10:15 AMby the way, if you want more admins to pitch in and delete spam 'n' shiznit, I can help...
Posted by: Vidiot on August 22, 2005 11:09 AMTuna Sandwich: processed cheese slices, presence of botulism possible
Jerry o' Connell: Ken doll hair, more botulism than a Dollar Store's supply of 10 cent Mystery! Cans
And the award for 'Most Plastic-y' goes to Jerry in a landslide.
Seriously, that picture is just creepy. Feels like ol' Jerry will leap out from my screen weilding a needle full of BoTox...
Posted by: romakimmy on August 22, 2005 11:22 AM"The thing about [STAND BY ME AND SLIDERS STAR JERRY O'CONNELL], it's got lifeless eyes, [CREEPY GRAY EYES], like a doll's eyes. When it comes at you it doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites you, and those [CREEPY GRAY EYES] eyes roll over white."
Posted by: jpoulos on August 22, 2005 11:37 AMI am bothered by the fact that they couldn't find a plate big enough to hold both halves of the tuna sandwich.
I am also bothered by the fact that Jerry O'Connell was in a movie where someone at a cancerous testicle. I don't remember if he was the one who ate it, but it is an awful image I can't get out of my mind. It had nougat.
Posted by: ColdChef on August 22, 2005 02:23 PMAlso, if any of you mugs is on Netflix, send me an email so I can add you to my buddy list.
So I can silently judge you for loving "Miss Congeniality 2."
Posted by: ColdChef on August 22, 2005 03:04 PMGot new windows in Casa Tizzie today! The installers come back tomorrow to do the last three. They look great and are so soundproof that the neighbors can't hear me weeping when I think of how much they cost.
Posted by: tizzie on August 22, 2005 10:47 PMOh, and hooray for jpoulos, the best administrator ever. Thanks for all that voodoo that you do so well.

Posted by: tizzie on August 22, 2005 10:50 PMWould the parallels not have been more shocking if one had used a porcine sandwich? For I find the concept of tuna to be delicious and chock full of iron and mercury and other heavy metal things, whereas I find the concept of Jerry to be a little hammy and cheesy...but not so much with the heavy metal.
Posted by: dejah on August 23, 2005 01:27 AMThey're both sliders, if you know what I mean. And I think you know what I mean.
No? Here, I made a Powerpoint presentation.
Posted by: kaf on August 23, 2005 11:02 AMI've been going through & deleting spam comments pretty steadily for the last couple of months, up until this weekend. I've been removing 6-10 messages a day, every day. (And I'm sure there are others; I delete 'em as I see 'em.) You guys know how tedious this is.
These freaks are relentless.

Enough of this tunafish jibberjabber! Someone tell me about this newfangled GoogleTalk.
Posted by: dana on August 24, 2005 10:42 AMGoogleTalk! I need to know how to sneak it onto this here work computer, bwahaha. Who has the skillz?
Posted by: tizzie on August 24, 2005 12:54 PMI already carry MSN and Yahootie, in addition to mIRC. Frankly, another IM package I don't need, unless my buddy list suddenly gets a LOT more interesting.
Posted by: Fes on August 24, 2005 01:21 PMIt is very much the beta. The new Yahoo! IM is good, though Google's phone seems to work better.
Posted by: kaf on August 24, 2005 04:50 PMGoogleTalk is cool! I just had a chat with Tizzie.
Filthy mouth on that one, I tell you.
Posted by: ColdChef on August 24, 2005 09:36 PMI was multi-tasking! I deleted the spam, and hot-chatted ColdChef, and baked a cake.
Actaully, the cake part is a lie. I drank a beer instead.
Posted by: tizzie on August 24, 2005 09:43 PMTo use a phrase I've overworked lately, the spambots went fucking apeshit tonight. Tizzie did some work, and I just spent the last two-plus hours deleting w*rez posts from here.
GTalk is actually good for a no-frills chat app, but the voice function looks promising. I even have a microphone in this laptop that I've never used.
If anyone wants to help me break it in, look me up.
(I'm logged in at MisterT.)
Posted by: Chico on August 25, 2005 12:56 AMI get the "access denied! surf nazis must die!" message when I tried to download it at work, so I guess that home is where the GTalk is.
Posted by: tizzie on August 25, 2005 07:49 AMI used the talk thing yesterday. It seems to work great, but this was on a T1 or something, so I think YMMV.
Nice talking to Tony and Fes last night.
Posted by: kaf on August 25, 2005 11:51 AMMan, I feel like I missed out on a weekend at Bohemian Grove or something! I need to configure my iChat. STAT!
Posted by: dana on August 25, 2005 11:53 AMMan, if everyone else is jumping off the bridge, I may have to break my decade long moratorium on IM packages and download it. Voice chat sounds kinda cool. Like, a telephone, only...with people you've never met. ;)
Posted by: dejah on August 26, 2005 02:50 AMYou can find out that Chico sounds EXACTLY like Ethel Merman!
Posted by: kaf on August 26, 2005 11:42 AMI can't figure out how to configure it. Also, it occurs to me that I don't even know where the microphone is on my computer or even what I'd plug into it to make it work. Math is hard!
And yes, that tuna sandwich IS looking good. I ate tuna every day for lunch until I was a teenager, though. I've probably consumed enough mercury for a lifetime.
This, of course, is the reason I am not a physicist.
Posted by: dana on August 26, 2005 02:15 PMI don't have a microphone either, Dana. Or I do have one, but I never installed it.
I'll put that on my project list for the year 2006. In the meantime, if anybody wanted to actually speak to me, they'd probably just call me on the phone.
Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2005 04:48 PMIf it weren't for mercury in tuna, I wouldn't have any heavy metal in my collection.
Posted by: tizzie on August 26, 2005 04:50 PMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone
else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts
on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
here. Thanks.
