October 22, 2005 : If We Had a Brick at the Southwick Zoo, It Would Look Something Like This

So I made it to the Southwick Zoo in Mendon. I am sorry to report that there was no 9622.net brick to be found. The complete saga, with pictures, is here.

The nice lady in the office said she didn't know why our brick wouldn't have been installed, but that she would check on it when she went into Boston next week. Apparently, all the brick administration work is handled in Boston. Lupo, I left your name as the possible original contact person, and I also left my name and phone number.

It was only a little bit embarrassing to try to explain why someone wanted "WWW.9622.net" on a brick.

People have said these things about that :

Ah, commish. Good on you for checking it out.

I suspect the pandas.

Posted by: kaf on October 22, 2005 03:17 PM

Sonofabitch.

I'm SO glad you went, commish. I've been laid out all week with illness and, while I was planning to drag myself down there tomorrow, I really wasn't looking forward to it.

I'll call the monkey people on Monday.

Fucking pandas.

We wuz robbed!

But good detective work, Commish.

Posted by: tizzie on October 22, 2005 06:43 PM

Not only did the brick not arrive, but ebk spawned. The world's just fucked.

By which I mean...congrats, ebk!

DAMNIT CRASH JUST REMINDED ME I WAS SO BUSY LOOKING FOR BRICKS I MISSED CAPSLOCK DAY!!!

eyeballkid had a baby? I need more information. I didn't even know he was pregnant.

Posted by: yhbc on October 22, 2005 10:19 PM

Well, he hid it really well.

Little D's really cute. (So is he "Eyeballkidkid" or "Eyeballkid 2.0"?)

Posted by: aine42 on October 22, 2005 10:56 PM

Way to reproduce, Eyeballkid!

Posted by: tizzie on October 23, 2005 08:23 PM

EBK: that's a good looking kid. Congratulations, Papa! You may now officially begin smoking a pipe, telling windy stories about how much better shit used to be, and complaining about that maniac from two streets over who drives, like, 40 fucking miles an hour through the neighborhood - is he nuts or what?? Someone should say something.

Apropos of nada: two pocket New Testaments, one of those Daily Affirmation things, and a Book of Mormon on the train today (along with Mr. Chatty next to me, who explained to me the ins and outs of DVD duping across continental lines, which apparently is not quite as simple as has been previously thought). My Infernal Masters tell me it's "a coincidence," but somehow I can't help but think they're not giving me the whole story.

Mo' nada: Since when did we sponsor a brick at a zoo? Was I on sabbatical or something?

Posted by: Fes on October 24, 2005 09:16 AM

P'raps, Fes. It started way back in July of 2002, and here's the donation page jpoulos set up at the time.

And, congrats to ebk and ms. ebk!

I miss walrus.

* vibrates into being, astrally projects, whatever *

Dammit, guys.

Would it kill either of you to make one cameo appearance, especially in light of Chef's excellent riposte?

Posted by: yhbc on October 25, 2005 12:21 AM

the what now?

Posted by: tj on October 25, 2005 06:58 PM

It's TJ! Get the industrial cleanser. The boy looks thirsty.

Posted by: kaf on October 25, 2005 08:42 PM

I did not get a ticket on the way home from work tonight.

I'm just saying, because I drove home in my bra. This was a first for me. I surrendered the sweater I was wearing at the cleaners, and had to make do without it. Which would have been the perfect time to get hit by a bus and have some explaining to do.

Dodged that bullet.

Posted by: tizzie on October 25, 2005 09:31 PM

Is it illegal in Kentucky to drive home without a shirt on? I'd think there'd be a lot of tickets being handed out, albeit mostly to men.

Posted by: dana on October 25, 2005 10:03 PM

"...I drove home in my bra..."

Posted by: Crash on October 25, 2005 10:29 PM

For you, commish? One ping only, Vasily.

Posted by: Fes on October 25, 2005 10:33 PM

i knew there were reasons i had to visit tonight. first of all, no monkey brick? i sense a scandal of valerie plame proportions.

second of all, anytime the book of mormon is mentioned, i have to spank someone. lucky me.

and lastly, i finished graduate school and i'm heading back to new york. i am officially a master. lock up your daughters.

Posted by: witchstone on October 26, 2005 03:57 AM

*rubs eyes*

Can it be true?...Master?

Spank ME.

Posted by: ColdChef on October 26, 2005 08:09 AM

Also: Tizzie-lou. I'm not quite clear about this.

You were at the cleaners. You decided to clean THE SWEATER YOU WERE WEARING. So, you just...

Wasn't this a "Seinfeld" plotline?

Posted by: ColdChef on October 26, 2005 08:11 AM

I'm pretty sure the feminine version of Master is, ah, hmm...

...Mistress.

Welcome back :D

Posted by: Fes on October 26, 2005 09:55 AM

It is the prophecy!

Posted by: jonmc on October 26, 2005 01:56 PM

wait a minute, ebk has a BABY? is that legal? congratulations!

In a word, no. Shhhhhh.

Good to see you back witchstone. Is this just the week people come back to MeFi-related websites after prolonged absences? Did I get the memo? (I must have, I'm back here again!)

*wanders off to sleep while Little D catches a few zzz*

WoooHOOO Witchy! It's great to hear of your success. When you fly back across the country, I'll buy ya another beer.

Posted by: tizzie on October 26, 2005 04:38 PM

So what's been going on, apparently I've been gone for awhile.. and why does this room smell of faintly of ether?

Posted by: tj on October 26, 2005 05:17 PM

tizzie, i'd like to think i was responsible for you driving home in your bra, but i think it has more to do with kentucky.

Posted by: witchstone on October 26, 2005 05:38 PM

Don't make fun of my waving. I'm ill, remember?

Posted by: jonmc on October 26, 2005 06:14 PM

"So what's been going on..."

Last week I turned 38, today is my 20th wedding anniversary.

So nothing much, really.

Posted by: Crash on October 26, 2005 06:21 PM

Yipes. It's my fifth wedding anniversary on Friday. I believe the traditional gift is...a fifth.

Posted by: kaf on October 26, 2005 06:51 PM

I think the traditional 20th anniversary gift is a tossed salad.

At least I'm hoping it is.

Posted by: Crash on October 26, 2005 07:26 PM

Now THAT'S a mental picture we've all been waiting for! Thank you.

Posted by: ColdChef on October 26, 2005 09:51 PM

I EAT BABUES!

no wait, that shit was all the rage last week, wasn't it?

Posted by: stavrosthewonderchicken on October 27, 2005 08:35 AM

I did not know this.
Clever Trevor.

Posted by: tizzie on October 27, 2005 10:13 AM

I heard the Wonderchicken's voice. He sounds like a cowboy.

Posted by: tizzie on October 28, 2005 03:35 PM

has anyone else had babies in the past couple of years? dear god, the things i've missed!

Posted by: witchstone on October 28, 2005 05:16 PM

I spawned a girl child. She looks somewhat like Bono.

Posted by: ColdChef on October 28, 2005 06:31 PM

I'm sorry, "spawned" makes me think ColdChef is leaping from step to step on the great salmon ladders of the rivers of the Pacific Northwest before releasing a torrent of ...

I can't go on.

Posted by: Crash on October 28, 2005 07:37 PM

awww, coldchef. that poor little girl has no idea what she's in for.

Posted by: witchstone on October 28, 2005 10:18 PM

Greetings to all...we are sitting in a restaurant with Mr. and Mrs. Esque. We aren't drubk (yet), but we're getting to limber.

Chico and I are about to take them to see the drag queens, but since Halloween is fast approaching, the signal-to-noise ratio is a bit skewed...

Posted by: Vidiot on October 29, 2005 10:11 PM

None of us that don't live in New York are jealous or anything.

Naah. Hell, we have Chee-tos. We don't need your fancy restarurants that never close and drag queens on every corner. Nope.

Posted by: yhbc on October 29, 2005 11:17 PM

Hope you said hi to the esques on my behalf. I'm still too debilitated for a legnthy night out as I informed him. If he'd arrived in town two weeks or so later I'd have tortured his gullet and liver with gusto, but for now I'll just lounge here in my snowflake patterned pajama pants and raise a bud skyward in your name.

Posted by: jonmc on October 29, 2005 11:29 PM

Jon, I hate to say it, but by just lounging around in snowflake patterned pajama pants and drinking beer you're really letting those of that don't live in NY down.

Because, technically, that's our job.

Posted by: yhbc on October 29, 2005 11:50 PM

us. Those of us.

aspdaoiuvngasa. asdf!

Posted by: yhbc on October 29, 2005 11:50 PM

jon's wearing pants?

FORM A LYNCH MOB!

Posted by: Crash on October 30, 2005 04:20 PM

So where are the photos of escapades with the esques? Those of us in patterned jammie pants land want to see what fun we're missing.

(and just fyi, while my pajama pants may be boring old grey, my slippers have sock monkeys on them.)

Posted by: aine42 on October 30, 2005 07:40 PM

Oh, hell. I'm bored, I've got a credit card, and I've just found this site.

There goes rent money.

Posted by: aine42 on October 30, 2005 07:42 PM

time to steal the pictures!

sperry top-sider shoes Hi there! Nice site You have! Best regards!

And suddenly, the whole world found itself wearing topsiders. Yachting regattas were the new raves. Blue blazers with big gold buttons were irresistable chick magnets.

When, I ask you, will these spammers realize the power they wield? The gravity of their mechized posts? What, what have they wrought?!

Posted by: kaf on January 30, 2006 03:24 PM
Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
