March 08, 2006 : Corny

I just saw this and felt I had to share. It's from this article about weird stuff.

Posted by tizzie at March 08, 2006 04:56 PM

People have said these things about that :

I kinda like 'em.

Then again, we've got tons of weirdness here in Wisconsin, so maybe I'm just less attuned to "weird" than most people. :)

Is that Jeremy Piven?

And I'll put Louisiana up against any "weird" state. We've got levels of odd here completely unimagined by the sane.

Or something like that that made sense.

The weirdest thing about Ohio that I just learned was that at one point in the 70s Akron had as cool a music scene as NYC or London. How about that?

The pickled fingers in the jar thing is a close second though.

Dana, Chrissie Hinds and I went to the same high school there in the Rubber Capital of the World. And lots of other cool people besides Chrissie and I have Akron connections: Mark Mothersbaugh, Ralph Carney, Joe Walsh, Tin Huey, Glass Harp ...

I bet next you're gonna tell me you went to the prom with Jim Jarmusch.

That's a pretty impressive list of people, actually. Hugh Downs! Jani Lane! All God's critters got a place in the choir, they say.

I can't believe I'm not on that freakin' list!

My best friend in grade school was Caroline Quine. I wonder if she's related to Robert or WVO.

Akron now for the future!

Devo!

Posted by: tizzie on March 9, 2006 12:50 PM

I'm sorry , but being from Michigan- the only good thing about Ohio is... wait, I can't think of one.

Posted by: tj on March 9, 2006 09:46 PM

that it's not Michigan?

*runs*

Watching Ohio and Michigan duke it out is like watching Urkel* fight Timmah.

Massachusetts repraZENT!

*Urkel, muthafuckas. Only the most timely pop-culture references in mah house!

Winner to square off against North Dakota in a no-holds barred steel cage match!

(I kid. I'm sure your states are wonderful places.)

(Except Michigan)

Posted by: kaf on March 10, 2006 12:28 PM

ok here's the real reason behind my hatred of Ohio- it has entirely to do with their State Police and very strict rules about speed limits.

Posted by: tj on March 10, 2006 03:58 PM

They're also really restricive about how many cut up dead people you can have in your trunk at any one time.

Or so I hear.

In other news, I have new hair and a psycho made me an omelet.

Posted by: jonmc on March 13, 2006 11:06 AM

So, are we going?

Posted by: tizzie on March 14, 2006 07:00 AM

Hell, I might could make that. I haven't been to Austin in...nearly two years, which is shameful considering I'm 200 miles from there.

Posted by: ufez on March 14, 2006 10:39 AM

I'm trying to negotiate with my very pregnant wife. I'm all, "We're having this baby for you! Why can't I take a trip when I want to?"

She's not moving.

Posted by: ColdChef on March 14, 2006 11:08 AM

Chef, you oughtta tell her that Jesus told you that you should go and then point out that Jesus rewards Louisianians who listen to him.

Posted by: dana on March 14, 2006 12:16 PM

Hmm. Go to Lebowskifest in Austin or hold out for Louisville? Decisions, decisions.

We're having a mini Lebowskifest here on Saturday for a friend's b-day. Movie viewing, followed by bowling. White Russians all around. Hooray!

Posted by: aine42 on March 14, 2006 06:06 PM

Aine, there's always the "other" option- both! They are scheduling the Louisville fest a little later this year. Last year it was so hot that you could hard boil an egg in your cleavage - which, by the way, makes for a tasty and nutritious snack.

Posted by: tizzie on March 14, 2006 09:37 PM

Well damn, they don't promote the boob-eggs on the website. That just upped my odds a bit. The (soon to be former, but not for any negative reasons) roommate seems to be down for Austin.

I challenge you monkeys. Bring it!

I was reading a nice little Kentucky politics blog, bluegrassroots.org, and I'm guessing he does not have 9622's fancy anti-comment-spam system.

Why not join in and say something too?
