August 14, 2006 : Countdown

baby_monkey
"Anecdotally … the sense of being close to your partner during this critical time may have been critical to the increase in having more babies,"

There's another baby due down there in post-Katrina land. My only question is, how'd they manage to do that with all the relatives living in their house?

People have said these things about that :

My wife swears that it happened the day after they all left, but I prefer to think it happened the night I got pissed off and threw out some of her family and she performed wifely duties so I didn't throw the rest of them out. Ah, a child conceived in fear of conviction. Is there any sweeter kind?

Posted by: ColdChef on August 14, 2006 09:29 AM

That should have read "fear of eviction." Paging Dr. Freud!

Posted by: ColdChef on August 14, 2006 09:31 AM

Eviction, conviction - it actually works either way!

How many days/weeks are we talking here? What's the Mini ColdChef countdown number? Remember, our attention span is ridiculously limited.

Posted by: witchstone on August 14, 2006 10:56 AM

Tomorrow. Holy shit, I'm not ready for this.

Posted by: ColdChef on August 14, 2006 11:19 AM

If anyone wants to know what we're going to be having and what we'll be naming it, feel free to email your cell number to my gmail account, and I'll text message you tomorrow when she pops. Otherwise, I'll drop in here later in the week.

More monkey birthing news...

Posted by: tizzie on August 15, 2006 09:19 AM

The anticipation is killing me!

Posted by: dana on August 15, 2006 10:47 AM

If I go to lunch, am I going to miss it? Damn.

Posted by: tizzie on August 15, 2006 12:15 PM

I just got the message - "It's a girl! Maggie May. 7 pounds, 9 ounces, 20 and a half inches."

YAYYAYAYAYYAAY!

Posted by: tizzie on August 15, 2006 01:48 PM

WhoooooHOOO! And the crowd goes wild!

Posted by: dana on August 15, 2006 03:13 PM

What, no cameraphone shot from the delivery room? Where's the love?

Posted by: tizzie on August 15, 2006 03:45 PM

Woo hoo! Welcome Chef 2.1! I hope everyone is doing well. Can't wait to see pix.

Posted by: aine42/czeltic girl on August 15, 2006 10:48 PM

Yay Maggie May!*

*isn't that a Rod Stewart song?

Posted by: witchstone on August 16, 2006 08:51 AM

I think I got something to say to you, ColdChef.

Congrats to GJ and Gina. More like you can't be bad.

OK, I got more scoop on the name. CC is actually pushing for Magnolia, with Maggie May as a nickname. Brilliant! I can see that name in lights right now.

Small detail - Mrs. CC is not so sure she likes the formal version. So, we'll see.

Congratlations to the entire Chef family. Personally, I think they should have gone with Monkey May.

Posted by: jpoulos on August 16, 2006 04:23 PM

Also, one of the things that bugs me about living in Catholicville USA is that everyone is named after a saint. Good luck finding a Magnolia among the Marys and Annes around here (no offense, tiz.)

Do people still name their kids Anne? The last time I looked at one of those "how popular is this name" sites, and it was right up there with Clement and Cornelius.

Posted by: tizzie on August 16, 2006 10:25 PM

Congrats to the Chef family. You've made one beaver very proud.

Posted by: ufez on August 17, 2006 12:17 PM

Tizzie, I have yet to run across another Anne who's under 30 these days. We're a dying breed, I guess.

Posted by: aine42/czeltic girl on August 17, 2006 12:57 PM

Dino-annies. Ah, well. Like the song says, you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

Hey, didya see the baby picture?

Posted by: tizzie on August 17, 2006 05:29 PM

FWIW, I've known both an Anne my age (27, but this was ~ five years ago) and had a very good friend in High School named Anne (although she often went by Annie).

Just watch for it to start popping up as names for pets and then it will come back into the human fold.

Home. Tired. Pictures.

Posted by: ColdChef on August 17, 2006 07:29 PM

Pussy.

(says the childless one)

Also, I'm not pimping the photo, because it's nothing great, but I know for a fact that Lupo will smile a bit at the caption of this pic.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Chef!

Posted by: Vidiot on August 18, 2006 12:31 AM

I really don't know how people can do that whole baby thing (especially the mamas) but congratulations! I'm so glad it all went well and welcome to your gorgeous daughter Magnolia (I'm rooting for the full Magnolia--what did you decide?)

Well, ya see, when a man and a woman love each other very much, they give each other a special kind of hug...

Why not join in and say something too?
