Go Dems, Go. Locally, we've had a huge coup in Dallas County. I'm fine with most of them, but I'm actually kind of sad to see a few of the Incumbent Judges go.
And, yes, I voted Kinky for whatever that was worth.
Posted by: ufez on November 8, 2006 12:37 AMI'm sad about Kinky and about Ken Lucas here in Kentucky, but hooray for 'most everywhere else. It's great to see the evil Ken Blackwell get handed his ass in Ohio, w00t.
Locally, the candidate I was supporting for city commission won by 18 votes - 3157 to 3139. Cliche, yeah, but true - Every Vote Counts.
Posted by: tizzie on November 8, 2006 01:10 AMHave not heard yet whether McCreary County decided to Give a Young Man a Chance. The "Little Milford Creekmore for Sheriff" results are not yet on the web.
Posted by: tizzie on November 8, 2006 01:14 AMKinky's numbers came in right where he'd been polling over the past few months, so it's little surprise here. That said, good show, Mr. Richard Friedman.
I won't type too much about it, and I'm glad to see the Dems overhaul Dallas County, but I know for a fact that some certain judges, who I've knew on a professional level in my past life, got unseated, and really, regardless of party-line politics, I'm a bit miffed.
That said, Former District Clerk Jim Hamlin....lmao. I'm cheering that one on something fierce.
May Missouri and Montana pull though. Don't let me down, notsnot!
Posted by: ufez on November 8, 2006 01:25 AMMcCaskill just gave a victory speech and Montana is looking more Purple than Pink...
Lordy. Deliver us Virginia and handcuff that asshat of a President we have, please.
Posted by: ufez on November 8, 2006 02:00 AMI am happily watching from afar, and hope to god that by the time I land stateside again, it will be a new and glorious day. Or something like that.
(hi from hyderabad, india!)
Posted by: adam on November 8, 2006 04:46 AMPity 'bout Kinky. I, too, cast my (overseas) ballot for him.
Holding my breath for those last two senate posts...though I must admit I'm getting right burnt out on razor's edge elections, both US and Italian. :|
Luckily the cat brings my spirts back up by cutely sleeping on my lap all afternoon while I'm working. I'm overlooking the fact that my butt has fallen asleep and I need to pee because, well, he's just so cuuute.
Posted by: romakimmy on November 8, 2006 09:17 AMI was at the Lou Reed show last night, and he stopped mid-song to let us know the Democrats were taking back the House. Not the biggest ovation of the night, but close.
When Lou Reed tells you the Democrats are winning, you feel, just for a second, like you might get your country back.
Posted by: kaf on November 8, 2006 11:03 AMTowerbrave, this means I'm probably not going to take you up on that kind relocation offer - but we can still visit, right?
Posted by: tizzie on November 8, 2006 12:43 PMAll of Canada (save perhaps our Prime Minister) breathes a sigh of relief.
And here I already moved the furniture out of the living room so you kids would have a place to lay your pallets (and what am I going to do with all this ground beef?). But my door is still always open to a monkey, disgruntled or otherwise.
And speaking of monkeys, check this out. (Almost) every Monday, a monkey in your mailbox!
Probably the coolest advertisement I've ever seen in my life.
Posted by: ColdChef on November 10, 2006 11:37 PMTowerbrave: are you in Montreal? Because I'm in Montreal next week M-W.
Posted by: Fes on November 11, 2006 02:16 AMHow many times do I have to tell you to get off my ass?
Posted by: Crash on November 12, 2006 08:24 PMFor adampsyche, when he gets back from India: Pecan-Brown Sugar & Bacon Ice Cream.
Posted by: tizzie on November 13, 2006 09:35 AMAlas no, Fes, I'm in Toronto. Hope you're enjoying the Pearl of our country though -it's a lovely town.
Posted by: towerbrave on November 13, 2006 06:52 PMFunny you should post that. I spent a good 15 minutes staring dumbly at the cognac section in the liquor store last night -- I don't know anything about brandies, and wanted something that would be suitable for sipping straight, for Sidecars, and for use in the sauce for the steak au poivre I was making last night. (Wound up with Courvoisier VSOP.)
Posted by: Vidiot on November 14, 2006 01:21 PMThe Courvoisier isn't bad, but what you really want is this
Posted by: eyeballkid on November 14, 2006 07:34 PMJust a wee bit out of the price range, EBK. Vidiot, if you come up with one, let me know.
Posted by: tizzie on November 15, 2006 12:35 PMA note about posting images:
We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys
wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone

on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found
