November 20, 2006 : It's in the Genes...

This is my cousin, Vincenzo Joseph Castaldo.
He is 17 months old.
He has his own website at VinnieJoe.com.
He is obviously related to me, as this year, for Halloween, he was a monkey.

People have said these things about that :

The "I run for freedom" photo is wonderful, Uncle Lupo. Will you be sharing turkey day with this young 'un?

Sadly, young Vinnie lives on the other side of the country. I only met him for the first time this past weekend, and now he's gone again.

Coming to this site makes me sad.

Posted by: ColdChef on November 26, 2006 06:55 PM

Is it the site that's making you sad, or are you projecting your internal sadness onto the site? Perhaps you need to turn that frown upside down, Mr. Chef!

You put your foot in the monkey's butt?

Posted by: tizzie on November 29, 2006 10:26 AM

I've done that.

Hey, was that a tumbleweed?

Self-link! To get you in that holiday spirit, my old building and loan pals.

I loathe Christmas until about Dec. 24 every year, but that was a nice essay.

Today, I wrote a fan letter to the uni-ball pen company, praising them on the blue/black ink in their Vision Elite line.

Posted by: ColdChef on November 29, 2006 06:31 PM

I wasn't really going for "nice." Funny?

Posted by: tizzie on November 30, 2006 08:07 AM

The Mii Lebowski. Fuckin' a.

Posted by: ufez on November 30, 2006 10:30 AM

Funny, yes. Nicely-written was what I meant. Well done!

Tizzie, that was fantastic. And I'm in the same camp as Vidiot -- not a Xmas fan until it's actually upon us.

I'd also like to put in a vote for seeing the remake of the film, but starring Samuel L. Jackson. That whole dance floor/pool scene is gonna be brutal.

Brrrr, lady - looks like you are having a lot of fun!

Posted by: tizzie on December 2, 2006 11:31 AM

Yeah. It's a bit chilly and chock full o' snow up here. I meant to build myself a nice snowman today, but never quite got around to it.

It's that terrible time of the year again.

Time for my world-famous Christmas CD mixes.

If you'd like one, feel free to send an email. Those of you who've gotten one in the past will probably get one this year, too.

Unless you live in Portugal.

Count me in!

And I wish I could afford to send everyone monkey wine for the holidays.

Posted by: Vidiot on December 4, 2006 08:23 AM

It's Monkeylicious!

Me, me, me, ColdChef!

Posted by: tizzie on December 4, 2006 10:20 AM

Kafkaesque, I accidentally deleted your comment about monkey wine in my zeal to remove the three viagra-related spam comments that showed up afterwards. Forgive me.

Posted by: tizzie on December 5, 2006 04:36 PM

God damn you. I spent hours crafting that comment, raising it from a pup, hoping that one day it would grow bold enough to seek sustenance from my fingers. And then, when all seemed lost and the little comment was near death in its box full of cedar shavings, too weak to stand, it grasped my finger in its little comment paws and slowly, slowly began to suckle.

At first, I didn't want to believe, couldn't believe. Could I give my heart to this little comment, or would the fear that it would lose its fight be too much to bear? I strode the streets alone at night, wailing into the midnight casement for guidance. For some sign that my little comment would pull through.

Soon, it was eating kibble like a champ. I no longer had to mush up the morsels with yoghurt and brine. And I saw power and strength flowing into its little comment bones. The days and weeks spent by its side, urging it to live, only to live, had not been in vain. My comment was alive, and on 9622, it would live forever, in my heart and etched into the grand history of legend.

So. No big deal.

Why not join in and say something too?

A note about posting images:

We encourage users to post images, especially those hilarous pics of monkeys wearing dresses or programming for Linux. But posting images that reside on someone else's server is considered by many to be bandwidth theft. Our thoughts on the matter, along with some solutions to the problem, can be found here. Thanks.
